1st Step Recovery – 5th Street is a women-only treatment center in Louisville, KY, helping those receiving Kentucky Medicaid on their journeys to lasting wellness and resilience. 1st Step offers residential and outpatient care for co-occurring substance use and serious mental illness (SMI). This DOC-approved program helps women on probation or parole earn good time credit upon completion, supporting lasting recovery and second chances. Strengthen Mental Well-Being and Develop Recovery Tools Their approach combines structure with compassion. Clients receive care through individual and group counseling, trauma therapy, peer support, and 12-Step groups. Feel at Home in a Safe, Women-Only Living Environment Women in the residential program live in a safe, women-only home with shared or private rooms and access to clean bathrooms.
