The staff was all very friendly until I decided I wanted to leave. They have a policy that holds you for 4 hours from when you ask to leave and they allow you to leave. During this time they do not allow you to have your phone, nor do they allow you to use their phone to arrange transportation. They did have a therapist who came and spoke with me. She was nice, however did state that she did not believe I would stay sober if I left. She asked how I planned on getting back to the city. I said my mom or boyfriend. She said what if they say no. I said I would uber. She told me that uber did not come to Paola. This is not true. I continued to say that I planned on continuing the outpatient program that I had already been attending before my lapse and I wanted to leave. After the four hours is up, they nicely state that you are no longer allowed to be on their property. So I walked with my suitcase to the nearest grocery store and arranged my ride. I waited in the parking lot for 40 or so minutes with all my luggage since I was not able to arrange transportation before. It saddens me that a treatment facility would treat individuals this way. It was very shaming and cold. I think the counselor that spoke with me was named Emily, but I can’t remember. She had short brown hair. I would like for her and Arista to know that I have remained sober for 5 months despite that humiliating, unnecessary experience.

Joyce was the first nurse I met at intake. From my very first day she was patient and kind and always had a smile on her face. She answers all of my questions and listens to what I need. She has made my entire experience at Arista the best it could be! I appreciate everything she does and all the joy she brings to each client.

They wouldn’t let me take my computer for 2 hours to do homework. It’s ridiculous. I was willing to do all the work but they were petty. So I do not recommend this place. Go to Norton or somewhere else where they actually care.
