Chugachmiut Behavioral Health Services supports the wellbeing of individuals and families throughout the Chugach Region of Alaska. Located in Anchorage and serving seven tribal communities, the center provides caring, culturally rooted mental health and substance use services. Guided by Alaska Native values, trained counselors and behavioral health aides (BHA) work closely with clients in their homes, villages, and online, helping them find balance, strength, and connection to their communities. Grow Together with Culture and Care The center offers programs for all ages, focusing on healing, growth, and recovery. Services include personal and group counseling, youth and family programs, and community wellness activities. Programs such as the Llangarwik Recovery Camp and the Tribal Opioid Response Program blend modern treatment with cultural traditions like storytelling, art, and time in nature. These services help people rediscover hope, build healthy habits, and strengthen bonds with family and community. Stay Strong in Community After treatment, Chugachmiut continues to walk beside clients through follow-up sessions, peer support, and ongoing wellness activities. Art therapy, mindfulness circles, and family-based approaches encourage lasting recovery and self-discovery. With compassion and respect, Chugachmiut believes in the power of community, culture, and kindness to help each person heal, grow, and thrive in a way that honors who they are and where they come from.
