This small, island-based treatment center aims to provide a holistic approach to addiction by treating all facets of a person through individual therapy, group therapy and holistic therapies in their residential programs. The center is located in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, providing a relaxing and stress-free environment for recovery among the tropical greenery and pristine beaches. The team at the treatment center provides treatment for patients with process addictions such as sex, gambling, phone and porn addiction. In addition to process addictions, they offer programs for substance use disorders and many co-occurring disorders as well. Alternative and Research-Backed Therapies Honu House uses alternative therapies to better understand their patients’ physical, mental and spiritual health. They use acupuncture, cold plunging, infrared saunas, IV therapy and meditation to help their clients deal with triggers and build better self-awareness. Patients can also engage in nature immersion experiences like surf therapy, waterfall swimming, deep sea fishing, snorkeling and other adventures. The team at Honu House believes that when patients find a sense of purpose in their lives, their chances of recovery are stronger. To help uncover patients’ meaning in their lives, the counselors use motivational interviewing, eye movement therapy (EMDR), 12 step groups, internal family systems therapy and more.

Just celebrated 18 months clean and wanted to just show some love. A lot of the fruits of recovery I enjoy today were due to seeds sown at Honu. I often think of a conversation John and I had on the porch one day working on my motorcycle. (Hope the oil stain it left disappeared 😂) really miss the recovery scene on the aina. John is the truth. I am a recent alumni of The Honu House. I came from Maui, recovering from serious medical issues, a broken spirit, and a desperation for change. I am now just over 8 Months sober! The Honu House team gave me the genuine care and love I wasn't even aware that I needed. Everything they offer has been a crucial part of my recovery. The breath work, to the the various types of therapy like codependents anonymous. One on one sessions, trauma work, yoga it goes on and on! I honestly believe I wouldn't be where I am at in my recovery with out The Honu House.

Been to rehab a dozen times over last 15 years and never stayed sober long enough to hit my one year sober until I went through the Honu house program. I did 90 days. Super chill, 12-step based, but not hardcore militaristic like some gnarly programs. It’s co-ed, in a beautiful house on the mountain in Kona with a view of the ocean about a mile and a half away. I thought it was great because it wasn’t a super crazy packed schedule everyday, they understand the value of personal time. Fun outings, gym time, meditations, yoga, weekly massages!!! Spoiled!! JB and Nick are awesome guys, I highly recommend.

Honu house changed my life. When your there it’s not just a rehab, it becomes your home, also makes you feel like your with family. The therapists are amazing as well as the staff, they look after your best interests and make it fun. I would choose Honu house to anyone wanting to get better, and with John and Nick they make sure you are happy and give you the best help anyone could give
