Located in walking distance from the Bellemeade Walking Trail, Oceans Behavioral Hospital Bellemeade is a 48-bed mental health disorder treatment center that provides day and residential treatment for anger, anxiety, bipolar, depression, grief, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia, self-harm, stress, trauma, alcohol and drug addiction, and co-occurring disorders. Their treatment methods include 1-on-1 counseling, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), group therapy, medication management, relapse prevention counseling, relaxation therapy, and 12-Step Facilitation. They specialize in treating clients 55+ with Alzheimer’s, dementia, medication management, and other aging-related challenges. Oceans Behavioral Hospital’s psychiatric staff review progress and medications daily. STAR Military Program The Oceans Healthcare STAR program at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Bellemeade supports active-duty military members, veterans, and family members with mental health challenges, such as combat stress and long separation from close relationships. Family members participate in group therapy with other military families with similar experiences. To enroll in the STAR program, clients need to provide a referral from the Department of Defense (DoD) or Department of Veterans Affairs. Additional Locations Oceans Behavioral Hospital runs numerous locations throughout Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. Many specialize in aging-related or military-related mental health conditions, and an increasing number treat mental health for adolescents. Many of the locations share resources with one or two other locations nearby. The Bellemeade location shares resources with the nearby Oceans Behavioral Hospital Kenner and Oceans Behavioral Hospital Marrero, which are collectively named Oceans Behavioral Health Greater New Orleans. All three locations have the STAR program, but the other programs and clientele are different between centers.
