Recovery center saved my life and helped me find myself. Knowing my purpose with the experience to show others.

It can be quite difficult to get into Santa Fe Recovery Center(SFRC) through traditional means. I suggest making a visit to a Santa Fe hospital emergency room and telling the doctor you want to go to SFRC detox. These patients are given priority. I found Santa Fe Recovery to be the best detox I have attended in long list of treatments attempted in new mexico. With the help and support of SFRC I was able to launch the longest period of clean time I have achieved to date. I most certainly recommend it. There is no magic pill or program that will fix an addict. There's no cure for addiction. There is only treatment, which, with the full participation of the addict, can be of great assistance in regaining a happy and healthy life. If you encounter a problem that threatens your detox or recovery you must advocate for yourself. You cannot expect people to read your mind. Any current medications must be reviewed and documented by a doctor at the time of entrance. Make sure staff has this documentation before beginning detox to prevent any interruption of dosing. Otherwise it'll have to be re- prescribed by their doctor who is very busy, so this may take 5 days or more. If someone asks you to take a medication you are allergic to Do Not Take It! Inform or repeat the issue to staff. They do not force medication in your mouth and compel you to swallow it. Do not expect to get along with every single staff member; they are people just like us; sometimes with personalities that clash with our own. Avoid staff that upset you or make you uncomfortable when possible. Tell your counselor the situation. They can advise the best course of action. Do not expect any staff member to work harder for you than you do for yourself; no one can do this for you. Even if detox/rehab doesn't go the way you had hoped or you are not able maintain recovery at worst you were able to achieve a bit of clean time(which is no small thing) and you know where to come back when you're ready. Or where not to come back and try another program. Just keep trying. Our worst and most compleat failures are the goals we never attempt to reach

I was admitted to Santa Fe recovery in February 2024 not even sure if I wanted to get completely sober. Now on the 15 of February one month away I will be celebrating a year sober. Thanks to Santa Fe recovery for getting me clean that first 30 and for helping me get into choice recovery patt, my sober living, and kick starting my new life in Albuquerque. I use to believe I was hopeless and now my heart is full of hope and light.

The medical director over the detox center forced my god son to take a new prescription drug that made him sick, despite being told he couldn’t take it. Then the doctor refused to give him his prescribed medications. We decided to pull him out of the program early and started our 50 minute drive to Santa Fe. My god son has a history of seizures and told the doctor he was not feeling well and felt a seizure coming. This doctor then kicked him out of the program and the property when he complained about taking another forced dose of the new medication that was making him sick. We picked him up at the curb and brought him to the ER. He was in withdrawal from being denied his prescription medication. This detox doctor just didn’t care. Shame on him! NOTE: Recovery centers are NOT regulated and do not have any oversight. Be wary!

This is a truly sacred & special place to which I will always be truly grateful. I found out about about SFRC when I was at Peak in Santa Teresa, NM in April. We called & I was put on a waiting list. I called several times a week & waited 4 months. I truly wanted help & Cordillo called me this summer. He gave me a date and I couldn't make it then due to life circumstances. I asked him If I could come a week later and he said yes. When I got there after a 5 & 1/2 hour drive they offered me food & something to drink. I was taken to the back & they did a UA & assessment. The only reason they take a picture of you is to put on your file & med box, so no one gives the wrong meds to someone ( not that they would) and the staff can recognize you. When he told me that I qualified, I couldn't believe it. I was scared & had 2nd thoughts so when I went to tell my husband good-bye I told him that I was having 2nd thoughts and Cordillo was a badass & ushered me to the back before I could leave. I was scared and sick but they took care of me and the food was so good. I went in 5'9" & 106 lbs. I was malnourished & dehydrated now I weigh 120 and the gym & track there helped me to re-gain my strength. When I got there I couldn't even open the back door or walk across the parking lot because I was so weak. My counselor & case manager were truly awesome. One of the cooks there, Sarah saw how thin I was & really cared. She gave me extra food when they had food left over. Ralph, one of the med-techs I credit for me not losing my mind. I wanted to go home every day for the first 2 weeks, I told him I was to old. Lizzy, and June in the medical department were totally awesome! Common sense is a Super Power! (Fellow Sober Sister) They have programs like Healing with Horses where they integrate therapy into the experience & Mountain Center where they take you repelling down a mountain to a waterfall. (If you're in good enough shape which I was not) but I still got to experience the therapeutic aspects of it & got to participate. I had a really rough couple of weeks when I got there but I learned really quick that acceptance is the key to serenity. You're always going to encounter negative & rude people in your life and yes, there are rude people there like everywhere else but the more positive you become you can rise above any situation. If you focus on yourself and your own recovery you will be happier in life. Also, accept things as they are if you don't have the power to change it. If you think of 10 things to be grateful for before you get out of bed and keep a positive attitude it goes by really fast. If you are not willing to follow the program, have a negative attitude, or you're there for someone else, just stay home. There are also people who try to bring in drugs, but they get caught. It ruins the positive experience for everyone else. If you still want to use, don't even go. I will always be more than grateful to this place for accepting someone like me. I just want to thank everyone at SFRC.

This place is understaffed and an embarrassment to recovery.

ZERO stars (I had to put 1 to post)This facility is absolutely NO HELP for anyone seeking treatment. Tom who is "administrative" had us calling for 2 weeks once at 0800 and again at 1630 everyday to see if there was a "bed available " when WE did call him around 0830 on the day, he proceeds to tell us "I don't think you're going to make it on time" being that we are 2 hours away. This facility stated THEY would call US when availability was open. Tom then proceeds to ask if we are COVID vaccinated. I informed him "no" Tom states "well, we can't help you". Mind you, this was NEVER, NEVER mentioned during ANY intake per phone call nor coordinating. State funded rehab that won't accept you because you chose to not get a Covid shot? How sad is this? Don't even waste your time calling here, these ppl are rude and trust me really don't seem to care if you're seeking help. I'm going to call State Representatives and other people in office and play them EACH call so they can HEAR how rude and unprofessional the Staff is!

I believe Santa Fe Recovery is the reason I am sober, healthy and happy! It helps that I wanted to change but Santa Fe Recovery helped facilitate that change.
