I think the biggest slap in the face was you looking me in the eyes and saying "there were no red flags", "we had no reason to suspect anything was wrong". Knowing Gavin failed a UA just few days before. Knowing opioid addicts have a very high risk of OD with a relapse after sobriety. Zero increased measures of accountability, no supervision. No detox, Knowing he would be sick again. No buddy system, no consequences, just brush it under the rug. " He went to bed by 10 o'clock, he didnt even stay up watching t v with the guys" Gavin was dead by 11pm.. In a restroom with two doors leading to 2 separate bedrooms shared by a half dozen men. 10 men in the house, and that baby lay naked on a cold hard floor for 8 hours..with 10 men in the house? Explain how thats even possible? The police report says someone said they heard a loud thud around 11...not one person checked to see what it was? Curfew? Bed checks? House manager? Supervision? Safe environment? You looked me in the eyes and lied straight to my face. I wanna know what you're doing to prevent this from happening again? Location said he didn't even leave For a couple days. Who else in the house was using? Each home bringing in 10,000 a month on top of donations, and you dont keep any liability insurance in this high risk environment? Our family was destroyed that day. My baby is gone. My grandchildren are fatherless. How are you protecting your residents? I get that these are grown men making their own decisions, but these are vulnerable people, there should be protocols in place when there is a relapse. We will never recover from this heartache.

These gentleman do great work for men suffering

I think this is a great place full of great clients. However, this is not a place for for some older guys with physical limitation. I had an excellent first part of my first day at Cardinal. The morning therapy session was great. All the clients in the house were great. The conversations I had throughout the day were great. Everything was moving forward in a positive way. This changed when "an owner" stopped by and started to direct people to sort, cut, and stack wood. As someone older having had multiple surgeries I found this to be unreasonable. There are some positives to this place. However, exercise caution if you are older and have physical limitations. I found Cardinal House to not be accepting of age and physical limitations.

Cardinal House, simply put, is excellent. It offers an environment built on accountability and a commitment to living as a sober man. I know - I’ve been sober now for two years thanks to Cardinal. I came to live at the Sierra location not only because of my alcoholism and addiction to drugs, but also my problems with mental health. Having struggled for years, I finally gave Cardinal a try, and am very pleased with the results. Marty Y, the program director, worked tirelessly with me to monitor my psychiatric status, providing a myriad of professional resources that allowed me to effectively treat my condition. Furthermore, he assisted with monitoring my finances, providing me with a debit card through which he could both see and monitor my income and expenditures. As a result, I’ve been able to - for the very first time in my life - save money. The founders are heavily involved and act as constant resources to the inhabitants of each and every location. With decades of combined experience, these men are professionals, and carry themselves accordingly. Cardinal House is a premier recovery institution. If you maintain an open mind, are receptive to constructive feedback, and follow the program they offer, I can say with the utmost confidence that you will not only receive the gift of sobriety, but keep it. There are many recovery programs in Dallas, Texas, and I’ve tried a number of them, but rest assured, Cardinal House is the best one.

Cardinal House Sober Living is the only program that got my son sober. Our family dealt with his addiction for years. There were many rehab facilities during the many years of his addiction, but it took their program to make it stick. He has been sober for several years now. Thank you for giving me back my son.
