Children's Home of York SOAR Program

I was abused at this institution, specifically by their BRIDGES partial hospitalisation program. They isolated me in a "safe room", punished me for not wanting to listen to stories about intimate abuse, and when I was actively injuring myself my staff member said "idk what you want me to do" and walked away. I was called the "drama queen", told I "choose to be depressed", and the director threatened to hospitalize me for standing up against conversion therapy. One staff member even said "you're fighting the good fight but here is not the place". The director said "if you want to talk about being a lesbian you can do that in the RTF (Residential Treatment Facility- threatening to take my rights away). The students literally "earned points" to be released from the BRIDGES program by sharing their trauma in a group sessions with harmful peers, who would taunt us: "no wonder youre a lesbian, not even your father wants you", "you're going to hell". NO ONE IN THAT ROOM WAS LICENSED TO CONDUCT THERAPY- one bachelors level social worker, one special ed teacher, one high school educated teachers aid. My first day there, the teachers aid said "If I said something racist, it's my freedom of speech, so that's why we cant punish (young boy) for saying you'll go to hell. Just dont bring it up". The licensed therapist (that only saw us once a week) yelled at the class, THREW A LITERAL PHYSICAL BOOK AT ME, and said "You dont run this place". She also told me im a lesbian because my dad abused me and asked for detailed accounts of my intimacy with girls while visually grimacing and shaming me. I am now a masters level student and I work with children with disabilities. I can professionally say that this institution was abusive to children and I'm shocked that it is still operational. They need cameras and audits. How is this legal?

Very helpful adolescent programs

I was at the children's home of York girls center in October of 2018 to November of 2019. when i was discharged from the facility I was placed into the homeless shelter in york city called the covenant house. I was 15. it was very unprofessional, and I didn't see that at the time I do now. staff was unfair and showed favoritism, some were lazy. if they didn't feel like bringing us outside then we weren't allowed to go outside. it was boring a lot of the time. there aren't many good inpatient facilities out there and there aren't many good step downs from that out there either. this place wasn't great. there were a lot of staff that I liked that treated everyone equally and then there were others who did not. also, there was an "issue" with a staff member and a minor that arose and multiple people (including some staff) that were aware of the situation. the issue I am talking about was a relationship, the staff member was 26 and the minor was 17. highly unprofessional, unmoral, and gross. be careful where you send your kids people.

I went here in 2013 by the name of Kira sites and today I have night mares if this place my favorite is the one where they let the pscologist do what he wanted to us as long as they medicated us so heavily that we wouldn’t struggle
