I'm happy my gallbladder removal surgery went well BUT the process to get there and follow up was not good. I went to the ER 2/27 at 7:30am in terrible pain. I sat in the waiting area appx. 45 minutes before being called back to the initial triage intake. At the intake my pain was an 8 out of 10. I asked if I could get a painkiller while I waited and was told I could likely receive one but it had to approved first. I sat back out in the waiting area another 2 hours. Finally got called back to get an EKG. Again asked for meds and was told it had to be approved. Waited in the waiting area another 5 HOURS, before I was seen again. Never did I get the pain meds. By the time I finally got into a bed in the ER to see a doctor my pain had come down to about a 4. I was accessed and finally received pain meds. I stayed in that area about 1 hour, then was sent down to get an ultrasound. When I came back I had been kicked out of the room and was back in the "holding" area, in the lobby. I sat there about an hour. Finally got called back to the area where the doctor comes to talk about surgery options. By this time it was almost 6pm. I chose to go ahead and have surgery while there. Since it was so late they gave me a room for the night and I had surgery at 7:30am. After I went back to the room to recover. It took quite a while and I was thankful to have been in a room and not the same day surgery. I was told there you have about 2 hours to recover then they send you home. I cannot verify that information though. After I got home I was not contacted by the hospital to check on me after surgery or to set up a follow up appointment. I told when I left the hospital someone would contact me in 24 to 48 hours to make sure I was healing and had no questions. That did not happen. I called the number provided on my discharge papers on day 3 and it was for the switch board. They had no idea who I should call. For the next few days I had to search through my hospital records in My Chart to look for phone numbers to contact someone to set up a follow up appointment. After 6 days I finally found a number for the people involved in the surgery, not the surgeon but just someone in the room at the time of surgery. I called the number. Explained my situation and the lady apologized for the error. She said she was not the person to make the appointment but she would research my records and she what she could do. Amber was able to search my records and after a few hours called me back with a good number. Finally someone who cared enough to help. I was very disappointed with everything but the surgery and recovery room. I don't know if there is some kind of transition going on there but it was a complete mess.

I had a very positive experience under the care of Dr. Khilen Patel. From the very first consultation through surgery and follow-up, he demonstrated the qualities that patients hope for but don’t always find: strong clinical expertise, clear communication, and genuine respect for patient concerns. Dr. Patel takes the time to explain things thoroughly and in a way that is easy to understand. He never rushes conversations and encourages questions, which creates a sense of trust and confidence during what can otherwise be a stressful time. The entire experience—from surgical care to follow-ups—was handled with professionalism and attention to detail. Dr. Patel combines excellent technical skill with a calm, thoughtful bedside manner that makes patients feel heard and supported. It is clear that patient safety and good outcomes are his top priorities. I’m very grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend Dr. Patel to anyone needing a gynecologic oncologist.

The staff were very attentive. Their performance in such a professional way, gave me a very comfortable, and positive experience. The Care Partners, transportation workers, and technicians all were very encouraging and helpful. The young man that brought my lunches was so cheerful! Everyone that I came in contact with was a part of my rewarding experience. Honestly, it's been my best hospital stay.
