In IOP, the workshops, my group members, and my counselor, Russ, have been a true support. However, I see that this has been but the beginning of my journey in sobriety. There is still much work to be done. I need to have AA as a part of my daily life; I need my sponsor; I need new friends in sobriety. This the beginning of reconnection--to my self and the creative force.

Over the past few years, Hazelden Betty Ford has been a steady anchor in my recovery. The counselors are top notch and, more importantly, genuinely caring—they listen without judgment, remember the details, and offer practical, real-world guidance. Group sizes are small and manageable, so you actually get personal attention. The vibe among patients is supportive and motivated. Most folks are there because they want to be, and that makes a huge difference. I’ve participated in IOP, outpatient groups, individual therapy, DBT, CBT, and trauma-informed work. The DBT class, in particular, was a life changer—the skills are concrete and I use them every day. Over my time at Hazelden, I’ve gained tools to rebuild routines, reduce cravings, improve relationships, and maintain sobriety. Insurance/billing was smooth and handled thoughtfully, which removed a lot of stress. I’m deeply grateful for the compassion and structure here—five stars without hesitation.

I was assured that my dietary needs( I have a doctor diagnosed gastro issue) were no problem to accommodate. They were not. I went through the proper chain of command and was ignored. It got to the point that my gastro issue flared up and caused me great pain and distention for days, which caused me to not eat for 2 days! I was told there was nothing they could do and that I'd have to leave if I wouldn't eat. I tried to tell them, it wasn't that I wouldn't eat, I can't! This wasn't an "an excuse "to leave, I need to be there! I want to be there!

I want to say I, was surprised at the level of attention, care & concern that was given to me at Hazeldon...I'm very happy, with the service they provided me...I recommend this program/ facility to anyone going threw a tough time in there life.

Let me first just say I am grateful for the education and community I have experienced at Hazelden over the past year, it has been great. What is distressing, confusing, and heartbreaking is the lightening-fast way in which our virtual afternoon group has been disbanded. A business decision was made to eliminate the afternoon virtual program and push all current and new clients to attend in-person in NYC. The public party line is that new people "only want to attend in person." Read that as you will... Unfortunately, I live in Southampton year-round, so this is not possible for me. Even that decision, however near-sighted and poor I might think it is, can be accepted. What is intolerable, and what makes me feel like a distant 3rd class person, is how short the timeframe has been between being told, and our group being officially disbanded. It is a mere 2.5 weeks. I am barely processing it, and it is already over. If Hazelden is meant to be my "safe space" and a place that brings me comfort and security, well Management: you have failed miserably and utterly.

Everyone at Hazelden Betty Ford is a true professional. They put real effort in making sure their clients achieve the goal of abstinence by truly getting to know each individual and tailoring the care provided to them.
