I urgently needed help finding a psychiatrist and I’m forever blessed anny answered the phone. The sweetest most willing to help woman I’ve ever spoken to over the phone. She was kind and understanding. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience or better help.

I came to Principles after a recommendation from a family friend, directly from a 30-day detox/residential program where I left psychiatrically stable and well supported. That stability did not last at Principles. Upon arrival, my bipolar medication was changed without a clear or necessary reason. Almost immediately, my mental health declined. I raised concerns repeatedly and was told it was an “adjustment period.” Instead, my appetite disappeared, I stopped sleeping, lost significant weight, and became increasingly manic. These symptoms were explicitly shared in both group and individual therapy. It took my mother intervening for the program to acknowledge how poorly I was doing. At that point, I was told to completely discontinue my medication and find a new psychiatrist — an alarming decision for a bipolar patient with a substance use disorder, and one that lacked any clear plan or continuity of care. As my behavior worsened due to untreated mania, I was dismissed, mocked, and blamed rather than supported or clinically intervened with. Requests to change housing or therapists were refused, despite other clients being accommodated. Confidential information was also shared about me in group settings, making therapy feel unsafe and unproductive. After nearly two months of deteriorating mental health and minimal support, I relapsed. I take responsibility for my relapse, but the lack of appropriate psychiatric care and intervention played a significant role. This program may work for individuals without a dual diagnosis, but during my stay the mental health component was seriously lacking. My experience left me fearful of treatment for over a year. I hope changes have been made, but this review reflects what I actually experienced — not the five-star review I felt pressured to leave at the time.

Yeah this time around come to the IOP PHP for the fourth time I really got a lot out of it and help me out a lot I don't feel the same like that angry person depressed so all the time it really help me out I was able to learn how to speak out in group around people that I didn't know recovering addicts and the staff is wonderful and I enjoy them helping me out what's everything so thanks a lot and God bless ings
