My sister had herself admitted into this facility because she felt the need to have her meds changed. She complained about the staff. The staff is horrible. Some of them are making fun of the patients and are being disrespectful. One nurse in particular (Diamond) made fun of my sister not knowing that my sister was not having a bad episode and that she was alert and oriented. She mocked my sister, and made fun of her and the other patients. I don’t understand why people like Diamond are allowed to work around these patients. The patients deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. It does not matter what health conditions they are suffering. I wouldn’t send my dog here.

Dr Paul at Ridgeview has been very helpful and constant in my recovery and very helpful in assisting me with my Medical Documentation. Communication and Understanding is vital for both patient and doctor which is vital.

I was a patient there at ridge view. They mentally abused me and lowkey physically. They put hands on me for no reason. Gave me medicine I don’t need. As for my friend they gave him too much medicine and he got hospitalized. They never did anything about that situation. I am terribly traumatized from this place and I hope this place gets shut down.

I was at Ridgeview in 2023. It was a horrible . I do not believe I will ever fully get over it. No mental health help for over a week. The staff was uncaring and unqualified. It was basically a lockup situation. Now, I see what jail is like. I was a 75 year old female in need of mental help. The experience made it worse! DO NOT EVER go to or send a loved one to this place!

They need to put their money where their mouth is and bulldoze the entire property followed by an entire rebuild in renovation & staff. Otherwise may as well close up shop and give up! Props to some of them who are the real hard workers keeping the place alive!

Horrible staff, very rude front desk ladies , and were also smirking in my face and trying to belittle me because of their rules that suddenly changed in the span of 5 hours before even going up here only to find out only parents are allowed to visit not even grandparents can visit but were told over the phone that anybody on their list that is over 18 can visit . the staffing isn’t polite at all and just very unprofessional overall . One of the ladies at the front desk has an attitude and the other one just talks to you like your on the spectrum or something . Please do not take any of your loved ones here at all .

I am sharing my personal experience as a patient at Ridgeview Institute Smyrna so others can make informed decisions. I was admitted to Ridgeview on August 25, 2025 and discharged on September 3, 2025. I arrived fully able to walk. Within hours of being in their care, I woke up on the floor in a dark room, in pain, and suddenly couldn't stand or walk. I repeatedly told multiple staff members--including nurses, techs, and nurse practitioners--that something was seriously wrong with my leg and that I needed to see a medical doctor. For almost six days, I did not receive an evaluation from a physician. I continued to tell them I couldn't walk, that I was collapsing when I tried to stand, and that the pain was severe. I did not feel heard or taken seriously during this time, which was extremely frightening. I eventually demanded to be taken to an ER on August 30. An X-ray there confirmed an injury. A later MRI through Emory Orthopedics revealed the full extent of the damage, which included multiple ligament tears, meniscus damage, cartilage damage, and fractures. I had to have surgery completed on 12/18/25. This was one of the most distressing experiences of my life. I sincerely hope Ridgeview improves how they listen to and respond to patients--especially when someone is reporting sudden loss of mobility or severe pain. I am sharing my experience so others can advocate for themselves and know what to expect. #jalisaneedsjustice

When I was 13 years old at the beginning of 2022 dealing with undiagnosed, bipolar one, after my first attempt I was sent to Ridgeview as it was the first place that was suggested to my parents by the emergency room. To this day, I still deal with the consequences of us going with the first option and not doing any research. This is two years post quarantine, yet they still had rules in place that we’re definitely not okay with the excuse being Covid. Although we could all eat next to each other in social distancing, wasn’t enforced, they had the boys and girls in The same unit. I was 13 years old with boys that were much older than me. That isn’t the worst of it though. On my second full day there, another patient who had not spoken to previously or done anything to provoked, slammed my head into the floor, hard enough to give me a concussion that made me dizzy give me a bad headache I even threw up in the bathroom. The staff refused to let me call my parents and gave me no medical attention whatsoever and sent me to my room. They did not inform my parents on what happened, the only reason they found out is because my neighbor just happened to be admitted at the exact same time as me, and when she got phone time, she called her parents and told them what happened. Ridgeview ended up releasing me early before my 72 hours, and as far as I’m aware of my family never took any legal action because I remember overheating my parents still talking about the medical bills for very long time, but I wish they did take legal action and someone faced consequences because this is still a memory that I think about constantly and scared me from getting help for my mental health and caused trust issues in doctors and therapists and people wanting to help me for a very long time. I’m doing much better, I’m 17 years old now and I have great doctors and I am mentally stable for the first time in my life and I’ve pulled myself together. Regardless of that memories still scar and part of the reason I hold myself together is because I’m traumatized and scared what will happen to me again if I slip up or miss my meds. There needs to be action taken against ridgeview because I was not the only person who got assaulted in that incident, and I know that this has happened to others. The way the staff handled that refused main medical attention and just sent me to my room was extremely degrading Not everyone can afford a six figure retreat in California to take care of their mental health. Sometimes this is the only option especially for minors. There needs to be a serious investigation into who gets hired at these facilities and what happens inside. Four years later, I’m still yet to receive any sort of personal apology about anything that happened to me there. I noticed all the reviews have the same response automated from Ridgeview, but I really hope that someone actually reads this and takes a look into the standards and rules and regulations.
