READ IF YOU’VE READ THE OTHER ALL CAPS TITLED REVIEW BECAUSE IT SIMPLY ISN’T THE TRUTH 🤷🏼♀️
I have no idea what these other recent reviews are talking about because I can say from personal experience that the one, for sure, is simply not factual. Increasing 5 mg every ten days?! No. That’s not how it works. They will increase you every single day at the beginning by either 5 or 10 mg in an effort to get you stable as quickly as possible because they truly want you to get clean. After you reach a certain mg you do have to ask for an increase but it is literally as simple as asking. You have to speak up but by that time, you’re on a dose much higher than 30 mg. I had to ask once I reached 60 but once I did, if I wanted more than 5 mg it was as simple as walking back, talking to a DOCTOR (no, not a nurse - also should mention seeing a doctor has never been an issue) and getting the increase. 5 mg and the nurse at the dosing window could do it themselves.
As far as missing one day and being stepped down this is also simply not true. I know because in the beginning when I was still using, I missed A LOT of days. Not once was I ever decreased because of it. The only time you get a decrease because of AWOLs is if you’ve missed 3 days or more in which case (first of all why would you/what are you even doing?!) it’s a matter of safety and anyone with a brain would be understanding of that fact.
Now that those things are addressed… this place is a literal life saver. I went here ten years ago when it was still on Cameron St but back then I didn’t really want to get clean. I can’t speak to how good it was then because I wasn’t putting in the work. Since then I’ve been to camp hill, Watsontown & back here again. This place far surpasses and others. The nurses are amazing, the receptionists are God’s gift honestly and I’ve met multiple counselors because of groups and they are all amazing as well. I love my counselor but I’ve been in situations at other clinics where I loved my counselor and they left and every one I was matched with after just wasn’t a good fit. I can say with confidence that even though it would be upsetting to lose my current counselor because she’s amazing, I would probably do just fine if put with any of the other ones I’ve met. They are all great.
As with any place, there are minor annoyances but they are things that would happen anywhere that you simply cannot hold against any of the staff there. They all treat the patients with the utmost respect and compassion and you can tell they all really care about and believe in what they are doing. I really can’t say enough good things.
The last thing I’ll mention is that in general, I avoid groups/group therapy like the plague and do it only if I HAVE to. I have been pleasantly surprised on more than one occasion with their groups. I actually get something out of them when that’s something I never saw happening based on previous experiences with group therapy settings.
If you are at your wit’s end (and I know a lot of people are esp with xylazine on the streets right now) go here! I’ll be honest and say that if you are regularly using tranq adulterated substances, the methadone isn’t going to take care of the W/D from that but what they do is get you stable from the opiate W/D and then they have options (that don’t involve going to places ill equipped to handle your situation) to get you detoxed from the xylazine that are quick and pretty painless. They understand what’s going on out here at the moment and are more up to date on treatment than anywhere else I’ve talked to or tried to turn to. They know how to help and what it will take. Take the leap… you won’t regret it!
