This place is very unprofessional I been calling numerous times to check the status of my son who called me saying he was afraid of being there because staff was very rude and had hurt his leg I can not get through to talk to staff or check for his safety or well being I would not recommend this place for no body in any condition.

Unfortunately I would be a returning patient but called for an admission and told I would first need to go to the Emergency Room. All I wanted was help and now another barrier

I wish I could give this facility zero stars. I was placed on a state hold and forced to be held here, missing five days of work. I filed a Temporary Disability Claim and completed my portion. I've called every number and could not get a straight answer from any nurse or receptionist. I came in person multiple times and even dropped the correct paperwork off for any MD to sign in order for me to be able to get paid to pay the hospital bill. The hospital was very quick to set me up on a payment plan, but will not sign the paperwork in order for me to get paid? It's been three weeks now, and my claim is about to fall through, but I am still required to pay by March 7th. So, thank you, West Pines, for this frustrating experience.

Horrible. I went this morning for only alcohol withdrawal. I was treated like a prisoner or a person with a mental health disorder which I have never had. I waited 3 hours looking at walls as they had taken everything away from me. No windows, nothing but 4 walls. They then came in and took my vitals and took me up to a ward where people were walking around self-stimming, yelling, talking to themselves and nothing. I asked to put on my socks. No , you might fall. Then they took me to my room. It was a windowless cell with little light a prison like bed and no privacy. I checked out a half hour later. I must say that all of the staff except the woman at the front desk were kind and doing there best. When I left due to the fact that I was in a severe mental health setting and not a hospital therapeutic setting, 2 professionals shared with me that this place was messed up and they were looking at leaving. So, I blame Kaiser for all of this as they recommended this place without telling me that it was primarily a mental health facility. Please, if you just need a safe place for alcohol withdrawal, never go here and hold the Kaiser people accountable.

I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with the new West Pines facility after my fiancé’s recent admission. What was once a respected mental health clinic has turned into a disorganized, chaotic and uncaring environment that prioritizes quantity over quality care. Her admission this time was completely unwarranted, based solely on assumptions from her past history rather than any current need. We’ve already filed a grievance with the original hospital and are pursuing legal options because of this mishandling. On her very first day, there were actual fights breaking out in her unit, a clear sign of the poor management and unsafe mixing of patients despite having three different units already divided by severity. The old West Pines used to separate patients more strictly based on the severity of their conditions, but now there is more mixing of patients despite regardless of severity level, meaning those with milder issues are exposed to disruptive and sometimes more violent outbursts from others. This creates an incredibly stressful and counterproductive atmosphere for recovery. To make matters worse, the doctor explicitly told her that he didn’t believe she was a risk to herself, which should have led to an immediate release after the evaluation. Instead, they continued her stay beyond the 72-hour hold purely for “further evaluation,” which not only violates hold laws but also ignores the fact that she’d already been assessed as stable. On top of that, they forgot to process the discharge paperwork on the day they told her she would be released. This felt like nothing more than a way to fill beds, CYA, and bill insurance. Communication has been nonexistent. In the past, at the old facility, doctors and case workers would proactively call me with updates after speaking with her. Now? It’s impossible to get through to anyone. I left a voicemail three days ago that’s still unanswered, leaving me in the dark about her well-being. The one positive experience in this ordeal was with the Admissions office staff. I found them to be nice and as helpful as they could be under the circumstances. The permitted (limited) cellphone use by patients helped soften our frustrations with the situation as well. It’s heartbreaking to see how management has sacrificed therapeutic care and patient safety for expansion and more beds. If you’re seeking mental health support, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere, find a facility that actually focuses on caring for patients rather than warehousing them. This place is a shadow of its former self and could do more harm than good.

Family member there and their treatment is poor and the providers are unethical and I’d never recommend anyone going there. Dealing with these issues are hard enough without the providers causing additional, unnecessary problems.

Everyone was incredible. 5 years later I’m still on my journey and so happy it started here. Please seek West Pines for help, you will not regret it.
