Don't believe the hype. My experience with this place is very heart breaking. Unfortunately due to the false report of a counselor my family are battling a traumatic separation. This place contributed to a legal battle that is enforcing permanent separation of my family. The very same person who I trusted to help me and my family stay together was actually kept us separated. The reports I read about myself that I so called did was jaw dropping. If I actually did all those actions why was I not put out and call the police on. My heart goes out to all the families there. i hate the fact the counselor get up everyday and enjoy the fact that my family may not get back together cause of her reposts of me. But I know one thing I'm not delusional. Maybe the state needs to enforce some kind of retaliation on clients policy for this place. Cause playing games with people children to get back at them not cute.
The staff is racist, incompetent and distasteful. During my stay, I noticed a visible red mark on my young son’s face. Staff did not inform me of this incident on their own. Only after I directly asked was I told that someone had hit him. I was then prevented from formally documenting the injury, which I found extremely concerning. When a child is harmed, even accidentally, a parent should be notified immediately and allowed to ensure proper documentation. The resistance to transparency in this situation raised serious red flags. In addition, the assigned counselor Kathy repeatedly spoke to me in a dismissive and insulting manner, including questioning my abilities as a mother rather than addressing legitimate concerns. While this shelter claims to support women and children, my experience reflected an environment that was often hostile and dismissive rather than supportive. I repeatedly raised concerns about bullying and discriminatory treatment from other residents, only to have them minimized or brushed off by staff. Rather than being addressed, these concerns were treated as inconveniences. I also experienced repeated rudeness and exclusion during meal service, including being intentionally delayed or told to wait while others were served without issue. Over time, this pattern became difficult to ignore. What was most troubling was not a single incident, but the consistent lack of advocacy and respect shown toward me when I sought help. Vulnerable families deserve care, fairness, and basic human decency. Sadly, that was not my experience here.
So thankful for my Santa Maria Family. My sister was her about 3 times in 2 years. Every time we tried to get her admitted, we didn’t follow protocol and the staff always assisted us and she was always approved! The staff looked out for my sister and niece, it takes a village and thank god for each and every staff member here! From the counselors to the security. I still updated them on my sister because I know they care for her. I never got to visit inside so no comment but i witnessed my sister get her own place, look healthier by the day and get employment. She a break and time to recover. Will always be grateful for their services.
I do not recommend. During my time there, I observed several troubling practices. Clients identifying as female but assigned male at birth were housed with women without clear protocols or communication. Access to medical care was missing—I had to request help multiple times before being allowed to see a doctor, and there was no on-site nurse at the residential location/medication room, only at the affiliated clinic. No safety oversight, I observed bed bugs frequently, covid, etc. out of formula/no baby food. Favoritism is another problem. The 2 new lead counselors appear to prioritize certain clients—often those with previous personal connections. Following the recent closure of the Jacquelyn campus, there were widespread questions about whether the Paschall location was also up for sale. Management denied this, but public property listings indicate otherwise. A prior detox program was reportedly closed under questionable circumstances. If you send a loved one here make sure they know their rights ahead of time and have contact information for HHSC.

I called on 02/15 at 5:15pm. I had the rudest person ever to answer my call that was security. At customer service. I was at the Parker location looking for a patient that they apparently couldn’t find. I called the day before and was given this info to come to Parker. However the patient said they were there and wanted me to pick up precious items. The security at Parker was very nice and helpful trying to locate. But the other location which she refused to give me her name should be FIRED immediately. Michelle initially answered the phone. She was nice. Whoever that other lady that seemed Caucasian was very very rude and unprofessional.
