Megan’s House is a part of The Megan House Foundation, Inc. located 30 miles outside of Boston. The three-floor home can house up to 28 young women at a time. A typical stay at Megan’s House is six months, but can be longer if needed. Therapeutic Community Individual, group, and family therapy is a part of Megan’s House treatment program and is provided by experienced licensed mental health and addiction counselors. Residents receive one-on-one success coaching for furthering education, and employment training. When available, art and equine therapies are a part of the treatment program. Residents may also participate in physical fitness activities such as boxing and yoga. Skills for a Lifetime The young women staying at Megan’s House are taught life skills like time management, cooking, cleaning, how to maintain a home, and general communication skills with family and peers. Residents make their own breakfast and lunch, while dinner is prepared for them. Women can tend to an onsite vegetable garden, with the produce being incorporated into meals. Daily chores are rotated among the residents.
