I told myself I would write a review for Foundations Recovery after my 1 year sober mark and that was yesterday. Let me start by saying Foundations was an absolute lifesaver for me. This is my first hand experience at Foundation and this might be long winded so prepare yourself…
This time last year I was in the darkest place, most self destructive and drinking around the clock. I knew I needed help, I surrendered and went to detox in Falmouth. During detox I knew I needed more help and guidance when I left. My family and a councilor at the detox suggested Foundations Recovery Group. They called Foundations on my behalf because I wasn’t in my right mind to deal with anything. Luckily they had a spot for me at Foundations. Foundations would pick me up straight from detox and bring me right to their facilities. That’s exactly what happened. I arrived at Foundations and was led into there offices where I met Delacey, it was nice to see smiling and comforting voice. We did the onboarding process which was quick and painless. I was asked if I would want to join group. I had no clue what that meant but I said “yes”. I joined and met a lot of people in that group that would become very good friends and housemates. After group was over, the guys loaded up in one van and the ladies in another. We headed to this big beautiful house on a lake. I was assigned to big spacious room with a dresser, night stand, clean linens (which they provide) and own TV. I met everyone at the house including Foundation house supervisors. A fellow housemate showed me where everything was in the house. That night I met Foundation staff member Frank. Frank and I hit it off immediately, we ended up talking for a couple hours hanging on the front deck. I knew after talking with Frank that I was at the right place. Frank showed me the house schedule on the wall, I did myself a favor and took a pick of said schedule. The next morning I woke around 6:30, showered up, drank some coffee, ate breakfast and got ready for the day. I was informed by housemates to get ready to go outside and wait for the vans to pick us up for group. The vans picked us up and dropped us off at group. Where they provide snacks, coffee and other beverages. We broke of into 2 separate groups and group sessions began. We were in group for a couple hours with breaks in the middle, then lunch and then more afternoon group classes. That afternoon I met with my councilor Lyles we talked about why I was there and we formulated a plan for my recovery. After that we loaded up in the van headed back to the sober house. That was my first day’s experience….
I want to say if you are offered a spot at Foundations Recovery, TAKE IT! Do the work in group, take it serious, say what’s on your mind, respect each other and have fun. You get what you put in. I met some of the most inspiring individuals at Foundations Recovery, staff and housemates. I keep in touch with almost everyone I was there with. It was the best and most positive thing I could do for my recovery. They literally teach you the “Foundations” of recovery. I’m sitting here writing this 1 year sober and proud. My life has change so much for the better and each week gets better and better. I owe all this to Foundations Recovery Group!
