Ambrosia Treatment Center Port St. Lucie

I came to this facility TWICE, never again, i would rather go homeless. the fact that i came back says that at one point it was an amazing facility, built connections, bonds, it was a community of support and hope. i fell back into bad things so i wanted to go back and get that help i got before. my therapist katelyn was amazing, she was there my first time so she knew me on a deeper level. everything else was horrible. locks on everything, they would buy snacks then say we can only eat meals. separate us from eachother, we didn’t have couches, we had to sit in chairs, take naps on the floor, if you actually care for your kid, take it from another kids perspective, send them somewhere else, because that taught me a lesson in the worst way possible when other places can do it so much better, for the love of god, spare your kids, it’ll only get worse

My daughter was at Ambrosia for several months and we had a positive experience. The best part about Ambrosia was the therapist. Therapist Katelyn is the first therapist who my daughter ever felt a connection to. Katelyn was absolutely amazing with my daughter and to our family. Katelyn is kind, compassionate, and professional. I truly can’t thank Ambrosia and Katelyn enough for building a trust with my daughter and for helping her develop new skills for life. Thank you!

I love all the staff at ambrosia. They saved my daughter’s life. The nurses and all the staff are incredible. I would like to give a specific shout out to Katelyn Macias “my child’s therapist”. We absolutely love her. From day one, she made our daughter feel seen, understood, and genuinely supported. She listens with compassion, communicates clearly, and creates a safe space where our daughter can open up without fear or pressure. The progress our daughter has made is a direct reflection of her therapist’s dedication, patience, and skill. She doesn’t just “do her job” she truly cares, and it shows in every session, every update, and every thoughtful insight she shares with us as parents. We are incredibly grateful to have someone so knowledgeable, warm, and committed walking alongside our daughter through this journey. She has made such a positive impact on our family, and we could not recommend her more highly.

My time at ambrosia was incredible due to the hardworking staff and my therapist who dedicated so much of her time and work to me. It’s a relitevly healthy environment given the circumstances of being there, and if you go there i can gaurentee you’ll have an amazing support system. Ms katelyn is one of the best therapists at ambrosia and you’re lucky if you have/had her. I’d recommend any family send their kid here because it really helped me a lot!

Worst place we could have ever sent our child. He has been there for 60 days. They did none of the things we were promised. We would be told one thing from psychiatrist and something else from the therapist. Our son continued his violent destructive and non compliance behavior and they are discharging him for that even though they were aware of these things when they admitted him. As soon as they maxed out the insurance, he is no longer their problem and they are giving us 24 hrs to pick him up. Not safe to have him in a facility but we are supposed to bring him home with our other children. No help. Just more problems and frustration.

Honestly I have received good psych care from here but I still think there should be some improvements, because nobody/nothing is perfect except for Him. I was constantly having some confrontations (physical and verbal) with some of the kids there, especially with a kid named Hunter, and I think the director should have investigated it instead of brushing me off. Although they couldn't handle my bad behavior anymore after 10 days, I still received good psych care despite my bad behavior. Thank you Ms. Annemarie, Ms. Shannen, Ms. Nordeen, Ms. Celina, Mr. Ezekiel, Mr. Daevonte, Ms. Melissa, Ms. Shanicka, Ms. Nina, and my therapist (I forgot her name but she was good to me) I'm sorry to disappoint you guys, you guys have been good to me I really appreciate you guys, God bless you all. 🙏🙏

I can’t speak to how Ambrosia is today (I did look through the reviews though and it seems as though it’s gone downhill a lottttt in the last few years with mainly negative reviews whereas the older ones are all positive. Unfortunately I’ve been to a lot of treatment facilities but Ambrosia was by far the best - like 100x better. I actually loved it there a little too much as I went through their inpatient program 8 times. That wasn’t because it wasn’t an amazing program it was me that was the problem. I constantly self sabotaged and didn’t know how to function in the world sober and essentially became institutionalized. (The last time I went they told me it was the last time and I was black listed and wouldn’t be allowed to come back because they realized I had an unhealthy comfortability with the facility. I truly did consider it my home. Every time I went I really did try my hardest and the staff did everything in their power to help and support me including sending me to an outside trauma therapist who I worked with for 4 years and she helped me immensely. I wish I could say ambrosia was the last place I went to but it took a lot more rehabs for me to finally get out of my own way. It doesn’t seem like any of the staff is still there (I went the first time in 2011) but they truly cared and helped keep me safe from my own self and I’ll forever be grateful. I don’t think I would be alive today if I never went to ambrosia or if I didn’t go as many times as I did. Actually I know I wouldn’t. So this review goes out to everyone that worked there a long time ago. James, Ashley, Mike, Jordan (especially you - you’re the reason I never spent a single night on the streets and you never gave up on me). And all the techs from that time too. Shauna, Nicole, Ro, Tonia…. I owe you all my life. 🩵

This happened back in 2020 i believe. It sounded good when I got transfered there. It was nice I suppose. I ended up AMAing one day and they wouldn't charge my phone because "that's enabling " (mind you, this was my first time in Florida at all. I literally had been in a different unit for 28 days before being transferred there). So I was walking with no phone and my bags. A car with 2 women and a baby offered to let me charge my phone in their car. They drove me to their house and it was a pimps house. I declined the free heroin many times and eventually gave in. I was raped , overdosed, and then I was left half naked in a ditch. Thr police/ems found me not breathing or responding. Now, none of that was ambrosias fault. (Except maybe help establish a safety plan? Or charge the phone? ) while in the hospital they wanted to keep me because my tsh levels were bad (I dont have one) , but ambrosia told them that it was okay , "we have nurses there who can monitor her". They took me back, wouldn't even let me inside because "i relapsed and was no longer welcome there". Eventually they got another place to pick me up. I had been gone less than 2 days (including the hospital stay) .
