Center for Discovery Cypress

I loved my time here. As much as the reason sucked and I was very hesitant to go, especially after seeing the reviews, I am so grateful for my time here and the people I met and so glad I chose this place. I could not thank this place enough for helping me in my recovery, finding myself, and helping my self esteem. The reviews do not do this place justice, not to invalidate anyones experience here. For me, I had such a great experience and would highly recomend this place.

I was admitted to Center For Discovery at the end of July and was there up until a few weeks ago. The staff was very kind and often made me things easier for me in the house. I liked my therapist and dietian. The facility is actually a house which makes things more comfortable then previous places I've been. I honestly only have three issues with the whole experience. First off, I think It was really strange to have both adolescents and adults together on the unit. It made things hard for me while there as for majority of my stay I was the only adolescent. I felt unincluded and was unable to make connections with other patients. I get it may be weird to talk to a "child" as an adult, but the oldest person was only three years older than me. I would sometimes isolate myself because it felt as if I was unwelcome by the adults sometimes. Not sure if anything can be done about this, but just wanted to share this part of my experience. I think conflicts between patients can be handled a little better. Another patient would often say very rude things to me and was just generally disrespectful to everyone. She would answer questions directed at me and offer unwanted advice that came off as insulting. For example, I was debating going on an outing or not with a staff member because I would be leaving and didn't want to pay to ship my pottery home. The other patient interjected into the conversation and made a very rude remark. This happened very often and if I didn't say anything, no one else would. I felt very hurt a lot of the time and it made treatment unnecessary hard. When I was admitted here I was already weight restored from a previous admition to a different residential program in Utah, but they ignored this. I gained over twenty unnecessary pounds while in treatment here. I was already at a very healthy weight and did not need to gain anymore weight, which was confirmed by my doctor. I just needed treatment, not weight restoration. Overall it was an average experience. I wouldn't say it was anything special, nor was it the most awful thing I'd ever experienced. This place was not really a factor in my recovery, but I could see how it could have been if I had been more lost. I think this place works best for people who are just starting recovery.

Center for discovery saved my life. The bad reviews scared me at first and I was nervous to go. Once I got there I found a place where I felt understood and seen. The first time I went I did not take it seriously. I’m happy I got the chance for them to help me again. One thing people don’t understand is treatment is not magic, you have to put in the work too. They helped aid me in my recovery process and now I feel better than ever. It is what you make of it. The staff is absolutely incredible and easy to talk to and bond with. I met patients there that I now consider my friends. It’s helpful to be around people that understand. Chrystal is an amazing staff member who is respectful and caring. All the nurses are very thoughtful and they made every day a little easier. I found that saying goodbye was hard but every person there helped shape me into who I am right now. I now can look forward to my future and am excited to live and feel like myself again. Center for discovery was fun and helpful I am always grateful. I highly recommend getting treatment here.

When our daughter was admitted to the Center For Discovery, Cypress Tx., her body and mind were not in a good place. Of course, at first she was resistant, but after a few weeks we started noticing big changes. Dr. Rana, her psychiatrist, made some changes to her meds. Miss Ashleigh her therapist worked constantly with her and kept in constant contact with us. Nurse Shoba would greet us when we visited our daughter, after talking to her you could see she had a servants heart, her concern and care for the children was evident. Our daughter said Nurse Shoba just made her feel peaceful and cared for. Naomi, the dietician, was honest and kind. After a few weeks our daughter looked healthier, her eyes were brighter, and she was more confident in herself. Nurse Indie would email through updates to us weekly and was always available for questions and concerns. After about a month we noticed her thoughts and habits were changing for the better. We can't say enough about the whole staff. Watching our daughter's physical and mental health change over her 2 month stay was amazing and heartwarming. Anyone with a loved one needing treatment should consider The Center For Discovery, Cypress. Yes, the first few weeks may be hard, yes, they will eat to build up their physical strength. But once they buy in to the process you and your loved one will be happy with the result.

if i could give negative stars id give a million. These people don’t treat patients as humans! made fun of my friend time after time and treated her not like a human. you go to these please because you’re seeking help. not to think you’re going to get it and get the complete opposite

went here about 2 years ago. horrible place with a weird doctor ( dont know if hes still there) who would tell some patients they needed to eat burgers. it was very understaffed and particularly one staff member, crystal, would yell at patients and me, which would make us all scared and resentful of her. We were also super rushed in the morning, getting no time to change and shower. The only thing i liked about this place was the nurses and getting to bond with the other patient's. Overall, really shitty place but did help me in recovery because of all pf the bonds i was able to make with people who were going through similar things like me.

Center for discovery >>>> there’s definitely things that could be improve but I feel like that’s anywhere, I felt safe, cared for, and like my recovery and every other patients recovery was the most important thing to every staff member! They all work very hard! Thank you CFD cypress for everything! You guys rock! 🧡
