My daughter was unfortunately admitted a couple months ago. As scary as it was for us as parents. Admitting her here was the best decision we made. Everyone was very supportive and professional. It was incredible to see how much progress my daughter made in just a week. My daughter states her therapists were very encouraging and helpful to overcome her fears and her struggles to take care of herself. She was discharged feeling much better. Thank You Medical City mental health!

Big shoutout to the RN Jane and Front Desk Emmy (may spelled her name wrong) Representative is amazing!!! They both are So understanding and helpful!!! This was first time dealing with this type of situation and facility… was waved around due to no insurance at hospital before facility, took almost 24 hours to talk to anyone with help for my daughter, had to go search for doctor that treated her, after hours of waiting and notice staff was doing shift change, to see about her medical condition blood work ect… his response was oh the case worker didnt tell u the results 🤦‍♀️. Caseworker are u serious??? Dont get me wrong, I am very grateful they have a free program that helps people that have no insurance & I know u get what u pay for in America medical. however, we was lied to from the beginning about a few things, which made my daughter and I both hesitant to trust the facility after… THEN dr called with recommendation of treatment day later 🤦‍♀️ knowing her medical history they decided to replace one drug with another less additive drug like what???!!! What happened with therapy to find core then decide if drugs are even an option 🤷‍♀️ ? There is other ways to help ur babies than drugs without more than one day evaluation people!!! However the nurse Jane looooove her!!!! She is a realist and broke down the difference and how it’s helpful and not also that everybody reacts differently!!! Just soooo considerate and actually cares about a fellow human not treat us parents or our babies like a subject !!! I do recommend this place after all that due to their staff that actually care and love their job… just please keep up with what they want ur baby to take - not all chemically made medicines are good do ur research dont let ur baby be a subject in the Big Pharm system!!

Please do not take anyone you love to this place. Such a horrible experience for my 13yr old daughter. First stay they never gave her the clean clothes that were brought for her for 3 days. More importantly the medications for her were dropped off and not given to her for 48 hours. They somehow did not know where a prescription narcotic was placed?! How is this even possible? This leading up to her second stay when she was assaulted by another patient and the outcome was don’t worry we will keep them 10 feet apart. Which after talking to my daughter was not happening and she did not feel safe. Mental health is hard on the whole family not just the patient. Please do your family a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

Family member was admitted here after an anxiety attack. On release the patient was given the papers for another patient. Doctor didn’t get to see my family member except for once during a three day stay. Family member with full mental capacity was not allowed to leave even after signing an AMA. The facility asked member to retract AMA statement before letting him go to make more money off of insurance. After retracting the AMA, member was released, meaning member was okay to leave in the first place. This doesn’t even account for the disrespectful and horrible customer service. This place needs to shut down or reorganized from top to bottom.

My main complaint is that I contacted the patient advocate twice during my stay in Cypress Unit and was sent to voicemail both times. My reason for the call was that there was no door to my bathroom. Nothing was done about this during my stay. Having no door to the bathroom made having a roommate extremely awkward. I felt vulnerable while using the bathroom in this place. It doesn't help that I've been sexually assaulted in the past. You'd think a mental hospital would be a little more trauma informed than this. One positive is that most of the staff were extremely caring and considerate. I say most, not all. Some of the nurses come to work with a negative attitude and treat patients disrespectfully. You can just tell who loves their job and who really needs to start looking for another job. Overall though, I'm grateful for this place. They helped me get back on my feet.
