still have nightmares about this place from when I was groomed, abused, and the staff attempted to make me detransition, don't send your kids here it will ruin them for years

This is a great facility, they truly care about helping the patients along with the family's. Brianna D. is probably one of the best therapists in Texas, she listens to problems and helps with the actual issues and takes time to listen.

I cannot speak highly enough about Meridell Achievement Center and the incredible team who supported my son and our family during one of the most difficult times in our lives. When my son was admitted, we were completely overwhelmed and felt like we had reached the end of the road after multiple inpatient hospitalizations that had not led to lasting progress. From the moment he arrived, the staff at Meridell gave us something we hadn’t felt in a long time—hope. I want to specifically recognize his therapist, Mr. David, and his psychiatrist, Dr. Wilson, whose expertise and care were instrumental in stabilizing his medication and helping him regain emotional balance. Their approach was thoughtful, consistent, and truly life-changing. I also want to acknowledge several outstanding members of the care team—Mr. Nate, Mr. Jeremy, Ms. Sasha, both Mr. Coreys, and Mr. Mario—along with so many others who showed up every day with patience, compassion, and genuine dedication. These individuals made a lasting impact on my son and his journey. My son is neuro spicy, with additional medical and health complexities, and the team not only supported him clinically, but also helped him build essential life skills, strengthen his self-confidence, and develop leadership abilities. The academic program was equally impactful—they helped him get back on track, improve his grades, and develop skills to function successfully in a school environment with his peers. Their awesome team also played a key role in re-evaluating his testing, gathering consistent data, and re-aligning his IEP so he can transition back into a traditional school setting and truly thrive with the right supports in place. As a parent, knowing my child was safe, cared for, and understood brought an immense sense of relief. Communication throughout the process was clear, consistent, and supportive. I do want to offer one area for improvement: hygiene and cleanliness. This is an area that would benefit greatly from more structured focus and oversight. These children gain significantly from consistent hygiene routines, and strengthening this aspect of the program would elevate an already strong experience. That said, the impact of this program cannot be overstated. My son turned 14 while at Meridell, and I truly believe this experience changed—and likely saved—his life, our family, and his future. He left with greater confidence, stronger communication skills, and a foundation that positions him for success if he continues to build on what he learned. He is now capable of accomplishing anything he sets his mind to. I will forever be grateful to this team for giving me my son back. For any family who feels lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next—I strongly encourage you to consider Meridell. They don’t just treat—they transform lives.

I went here as a teenager when I was about 14 in 2018/2019 or so and it was quite truthfully horrible! This place is beyond controlling and you get put on social restrictions for absolutely everything! You can’t even tell your parents about what happens here daily because it’s considered bad behavior… I had Mrs.Amy as my therapist and seeing other people have had similar experiences makes me realize I’m not as crazy as Meridell tried to make me out to be!! Please don’t send your children here- ETA: wanted to add I was ALSO put on Trileptal here even after attempting to end my life by overdosing on it.

When my daughter 1st arrived she was fighting the system every step but eventually she got with the program and came home a new person. Her doctor got her medications what & where they needed to be. Her therapist was amazing. She held her accountable for her actions and behavior and brought out the beautiful girl that was hiding underneath all of her problems. The nurses and techs were also amazing as well. I know my child will not magically lose her diagnosises but Meridell was a great start. As far as the school, I didn't really know any of the teachers but she came in with F's and left with A's, B's, & C's. I'm truly thankful for Meridell Achievement Center and the help they provided for our daughter and our family.

I can't say enough good about this place! My 11 year old had gotten uncontrollable. They got him on the right meds with the right diagnosis, updated his IEP to reflect his needs, and used behavioral therapy to help him learn his he views the world and how to advocate for himself. They have taught him coping skills and replacement behaviors for when he is stressed or overloaded. My views as a parent were respected and taken under advisement. 10/10

I was a patient here around 2021 for 4 months. Please never send your child here. Patients were encouraged to be honest if they were having bad thoughts and if they were honest they would be isolated from the group and be forced to “sleep out” where the staff made them drag their own thin mattress out into the hallway and sleep in the hallway at night. This place has many horror stories that can’t fit into one google review but I highly encourage you to look up the testimonies of survivors. While I was there I asked to leave early and the staff told my family that if the staff didn’t sign off on my leaving then the insurance would not cover it, effectively trapping me there until I seemed good enough to leave. The only thing I gained from this place was nightmares that have followed me for years and more issues that I am working through with a REAL therapist. I beg you to never send anyone to this place.

Genuinely do not send your kids here, I stayed here when I was 17 and I am now 19. They couldn’t even tell me my diagnosis, kept me on meds that made me want to puke and couldn’t hardly eat and no one believed me. Say goodbye to your kids sleep as well if you decide to send them here. I was the oldest on the unit and saw many horrible things happen to other kids. I’m so glad other people are speaking up about their time in here as well as the parents. It is NOT like the pictures show. Most of the staff except for like 3 were horrible and smug. I genuinely got in severe trouble for accidentally letting a fart out (I was in line for the bathroom and have tummy issues) and was placed in solitary for 24 hours while I watched everyone else be able to speak to one another. We also weren’t allowed to speak about hardly anything, if we remotely spoke about something the staff didn’t like we would get put on solitary. I remember my very first call home I started crying and had to be placed on call watch where they literally sit right next to you and if you say anything remotely out of line like “I don’t like the food” the call would get muted. I can go on and on about my time in here just writing this has flooded my mind with horrible memories that I thought I forgot about. So please do some research before you send your kid here. I genuinely think this is what caused me to have more mental issues than how I did before going here.
