Horrible place. Staff did not care about me at all, got no therapy here. Plus food sucked

I had the absolute WORST experience here in August. I was admitted around 9 pm after waiting 10 hours in the E.R. for a bed. They checked me in and locked up my belongings, and then LEFT ME ALONE in the waiting room for an HOUR while staff walked by me SOBBING my eyes out. The staff didnt even BLINK at me, I felt like a rug. I was breaking down my first day, as this was my first time ever inpatient and being away from my family. The staff outside my room said "I dont wanna go in there, I came into work in a good mood and I want to leave in a good mood." Like me breaking down over being inpatient was such a huge personal inconvenience. Shame on that nurse, you know exactly who you are. The staff at Brown Deer did not coordinate a transfer to Oconomowoc with me, they told me an hour before it was supposed to happen, and then they transfered me 10 minutes later after telling me all varying times. I had to call my dad repeatedly to coordinate visitor times. Overall, Brown Deer made my mental health and overall trust in medical professionals plummet. Please do NOT send yourself or your family members here. They do not care about your wellbeing, the nurses are just there for the paycheck and I can say that CONFIDENTLY after witnessing a woman who was placed on a 1-on-1 be continously ignored, while she was PLEADING for someone to be with her.

I would normally give one star given my oldest daughter’s experience her last time being there. Was on clothing restriction due to suicidal tendencies. That was no excuse to why she couldn’t be given a clean pair of clothes each day (we packed all of it according to rules). She was in one outfit 3-4 days. Then another for about 5. During this stay she got her period. That’s a huge infection risk. However, my middle child was just in last night. She called in tears after one night and begged to come home (dad and I both thought her stay was not needed). I called the child unit about 30 minutes after the doctors left. But the nurse on the floor Zach (or Zack) really really was the best yet. He had not only called her doctor right away, but then also came up with a solution on how she could come home that night. He was quick and professional and my girl really bonded well. I’m so truly grateful to him! (Teagan would love to drop off cookies for him soon if possible!) GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE 👏👏👏🤌💕

My son is currently inpatient. He had a rough couple days and refused to speak to me. He finally called me today with a whole new outlook. He said it’s not a “bad” place and they let him do puzzles all the time. The drs are keeping in contact with me as his meds are needed some work so he can be fully himself when he gets home. I was extremely misinformed when I was told it was a bad place.

Would HIGHLY recommend this place. The staff cares about their patients. Relaxed and laid back environment. Props to the staff.

They were extremely kind to me and I had nothing to complain about either how they treated the extremely disturbed woman who was there also. I was amazed at the patience and care displayed. The rooms were comfy, they only assigned roommates when necessary, the food was great, and the program was memorable. I stayed about 5 days beyond recommendation because I wasn’t ready and I was so comfortable. They never tried to force me to go.
