Kara presented to our campus today and OMG I learned so much. So fun, on our level-didn’t use jargon, and helped counselors like me to validate a students feelings vs just saying something positive to them.

First off I wanted to say thank you the staff that actually helped me there, Ms Wanda, Gabriel, Valerie from night shift, Ms T , Karen and Christine, Maria and Amanda. Now to the troubles I had with The morning nurse Ms Gracie. When I wasn't feeling well with my throat because I had smoked too much one day she threatened to send me and another patient to A unit if we didn't attend it. And the other patient was feeling unwell as well. Another instance was I got locked into my room for 8 hours because they thought I had 3 different things and one of the techs from morning shift had came into my room after downtime and yelled at my roommate I had to pick up her stuff and get out and we didn't know what was going on. So my roommate went to another room and it was now dinner time because they wake us up for dinner after downtime. So they said I was on room restriction and they never brought me back a tray for dinner and they never tested me for what they thought I had, I had to wait a long time for to get some food because night shift came and gave it to me It was Maria who took care of me that night she even tested me immediately and I was clear. Day shift could have done it on down time since they sent us on down time 2 hours early. I find it very sad that day shift doesn't do anything for the patients. Another instance was when I had a Dr order for a special visit on Friday, even night shift saw the papers. And all of a sudden when it was time to go to my visit the paper wasn't there. And Gracie kept trying to make me look crazy and it made me really upset because I didn't get to have my visit and my aunt left because they didn't let me see here. My dr told Gracie that it was there and she played innocent. And she was having issues with other patiens. Other patients had told me what she was doing and it's not right. I also almost went to the bathroom on myself 6 times before they let me in. I had to scream at day shift, mostly Gracie and the other tech who was back there chatting it up. One time she threatened to send me to c unit since I told then I was about to pee on the floor because they hadn't opened my door. They won't even let us use the bathroom in the day area. I really hope something can be done about this to make newer patients stay more effective, I believe we shouldn't be threatened to be sent to another unit rather it being A , B or C and we should not have to almost pee on ourself because they are back there chatting it up. And we definitely don't need our visit sabotaged either. But thank you to all of night shift and Karen and Christine, Ms T and Candance On day shift you all made my stay way better and helped me feel happy there. And thank you to all the patients I was with on Magnolia who helped me be able to stay myself with my hyper moods. Thank you again.
