Intensive Outpatient Program, Outpatient, Virtual & In-Home Care, Co-Occurring Disorders

Serenity Behavioral Health is a family-centric outpatient program treating adolescents and young adults (ages 14-30) with mental health disorders. They offer 2 levels of care, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and an outpatient program (which is available in-person and virtually). Serenity takes an individualized and evidence-based approach to treatment, using therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and recreation therapies. One activity used is a game called “feelings charades” that garners discussion around different feelings as a way of getting clients comfortable sharing about their thoughts and feelings. Family Therapy Family therapy is at the core of Serenity’s treatment approach, with their staff being trained in family systems theory. Family counseling sessions take place bi-weekly, with the goal of families learning to understand one another and collaborate to solve problems. Additional family support is available through a parents’ group that meets bi-weekly to provide education and peer support.

Recovery Care Offered

Intensive Outpatient Program

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) falls between inpatient care and traditional outpatient services, with therapy and skills-building activities designed to support recovery and provide flexibility. IOP is ideal for those needing support but not the 24/7 care of a residential facility.

Outpatient

Outpatient treatment offers flexible therapeutic and medical care without the need to stay overnight in a hospital or inpatient facility. Outpatient care typically offers a range of therapies and medical interventions individuals can attend alongside daily life.

Virtual & In-Home Care

The delivery of therapeutic services utilizing technology such as video conferencing, online messaging or phone calls, allowing for flexibility, comfort and increased access to care.

Co-Occurring Disorders

Substance use and mental health can occur simultaneously as co-occurring disorders. Treatment for co-occurring disorders involves therapy and other personalized interventions to address both conditions.
