Hello Elizabeth Cena, I shared many of the same experiences that you described at ST and I want to reach out to you to validate your experience and provide some support/comfort. I have a very unique name, and you should be able to find me on a google search. I am located in SW Washington state. I am a college professor and a dressage trainer. I'd love to hear from you.

I came to Sierra Tucson in desperation seeking support and help for a major depressive episode and was admitted to a drug rehab center. I was deprived of respect, autonomy, dignity and infantilized over 12 miserable hours. This was an extremely poor intake process with a lot of waiting and minimal information shared. You learn as you go, and one staff member didn’t know what the other was doing. Accommodations, while clean, were unpleasant. No privacy in the bathroom, which is very brightly lit and open to the sleeping area. A padded soft door to the toilet shower. Toilets that flush like a rocket launching. Pillows that are stiff and hard. The window shade was broken. I had to ask for a blanket, which resulted in a search through 4 closets in 2 hallways before we found one. The staff (always behind a barrier) was polite but condescending and mostly unsympathetic to my distress. I don’t have addiction, suicidal ideation and have no intention of hurting anyone else, and thus deserve my privacy and dignity. Patients who are not suicidal, a danger to others, nor in addiction recovery should be segregated from those needing supervision for safety. Once home and unpacking I found the clothing I had carefully packed had been wadded up, wrinkled and stuffed carelessly in my luggage during the “search” process. I should have been present for the luggage search, witnessed the removal of items and received a list of items, instead, I was asked after the fact to just sign an electronic page I could not see. I am missing a blow dryer, diffuser, toothbrush charger, nail clippers, & tweezers. More importantly I am missing my sense of safety, I am missing the respect I have earned through life and I remain untreated and desolate.

You have to be cautious when reading and making decisions on reviews for a mental health facility.... I recently left Sierra Tuscon and I am significantly better than when I got there. At times you have to be an advocate for yourself however it goes without saying the staff did everything possible to help me in my recovery. Once you get out of the intake the place is sort of like a college campus. All open, you can walk the track, play sports and go as you please. I don't think many places are like that which is why I chose to go there. I would highly recommend.

Would rate them much higher if I could actually get them to do what they need to do right now with getting my medications to the correct pharmacy in my state. The receptionist cut me off and was rude. Her name I believe is Morrine or Corrine. I called multiple times today and yesterday after discharge to get the medicine called into the right pharmacy which I had instructed my Dr with the correct place on the 19th, 3 days ago. A mental health facility who can't get the medicine to the patient just discharged is so unprofessional and unethical. I understand there is a lot going on there, but again your leaving your discharged completed program patient with the inability to get her prescribed meds. The pharmacy in which they use canceled it for me at the correct pharmacy in my state. The pharmacy has not returned a single call to me or my pharmacy after multiple attempts over two days. Until they cancel and release it there, it can't be filled her. The pharmacy officially just closed for the weekend as I'm writing this. Unbelievable and unprofessional is all I can say at this moment. All the good things I want to say will not happen until they can make sure a patient is discharged with everything they need and receptionist who treat a discharged patient the way she did, which was condescending and unprofessional should be fired. I went for mental health related to trauma and chronic pain management. Not drugs, or alcohol or addiction of any kind. I didn't and still don't have suicidal ideations. They way she just treated me made me feel as if I was someone otherwise. I got help with many things, but until they get some things corrected, I would not advise to go there. I'm furious with the lack of compassion I have received yesterday and today from my many calls. I was treated as a bother. Had the information been immediately relayed to the appropriate person or Dr, it could have been taken care of. Now I suppose I have to miss my medications and that is dangerous to just stop taking. Some meds are not meant to be stopped cold turkey. Hopefully I will get a call back soon from someone who can do something about this. I'll follow up on this review with the hopes of a good update. I know there are Drs and staff there that care. I just can't seem to get in contact with anyone who does. From the first call out to them until now it has been 26hrs.

Visited the much talked about Sierra Tucson last week and was not disappointed! The people who are fortunate enough to seek treatment there are sure to have their lives changed for the better forever! It offers a serene breathtaking campus with the best mental healthcare options offered and a wonderful devoted staff to help clients complete their treatment journey. I now understand why Sierra Tucson has remained at the top of the list for best residential recovery facilities and still going strong after 43 years. 🥰

BHA's Ashley, Russell, Yvette, Asia, and Mia are great people. R.T. Johnathan is the best, always goes the extra mile. You'll know pretty quick who cares vs. Who doesn't. Hit or miss with the nurses, as they like to gossip and target people (Erin and Pete). Nurse Maegan and Stacey always go the extra mile. Your time here is what you make of it. I met a lot of great folks who wanted change, some who didn't care, and others who's family would make them go. You'll have to advocate for yourself continuously, finding the right staff who care (that'll be easy to recognize). When you first get there, make sure you are present when your belongings are searched, as they like to lose things a lot of the time and then blame you. Overall it was a great experience. The RWB program is phenomenal. This place would have been given 1 star, but the staff mentioned above truly made a difference.
