Outpatient treatment offers flexible therapeutic and medical care without the need to stay overnight in a hospital or inpatient facility. Outpatient care typically offers a range of therapies and medical interventions individuals can attend alongside daily life.
Some primary care providers offer mental health diagnosis and treatment. This can prevent patients from developing more serious conditions.
Substance use and mental health can occur simultaneously as co-occurring disorders. Treatment for co-occurring disorders involves therapy and other personalized interventions to address both conditions.

I was a client of Taproot for about seven years. I initially sought my therapist out for EMDR therapy, but over time, as it became clear it wasn't providing the progress I needed, my preference shifted to talk therapy. Despite my desire for a different approach, I felt consistently nudged towards continuing EMDR and exploring other modalities like Brainspotting, which didn't align with my evolving needs. I often wished for more focus on foundational talk therapy and felt my direct input on treatment direction wasn't fully incorporated. Recently, after experiencing a mental health crisis that led me to a wellness recovery center, I realized the extent of this misalignment. Effective therapy, as I'm experiencing now, involves active listening, tailored feedback, and a collaborative approach. Unfortunately, I found these aspects lacking in my sessions with my therapist at Taproot, which often felt more like a push for additional services rather than a comprehensive, personalized care plan. Notably, there was no follow-up from my therapist after I informed him of my admission to the wellness center. This lack of contact during a critical period was disappointing and solidified my decision to seek a new therapist who offers more engaged and responsive care. I believe it's important for others considering this practice to be aware of my experience.

I came here after having a really terrible break up with an anxious avoidant ex who ghosted me, and did sessions with Kristan. The results were astonishing. Kristan was able to heal me up very quickly in terms of therapy standards. I'm not saying that everyone will have the same result as me, (cause I've done years of work on myself), but her technique called Lifetime Integration was incredibly helpful in helping me come back to my youthful, cheerful, happy self. One week after my break through session, I feel back on top of the world, healthy, happy, and well regulated. I got back on my workouts and lost 2 lbs (stress is a weight gainer!) Kristan is an amazing, empathetic therapist who has really safe presence and very well trained. Her expertise with somatic healing and Lifespan Integration can really help folks who are knee deep in their own trauma, walk out and stay out for good. I couldn't recommend her highly enough!

Joel is the best therapist I’ve ever encountered. He listens intently, his methodologies work wonders, and I’ve never felt so comfortable talking about big issues without feeling like I was being judged. 10/10 highly recommend.

I went through years of CBT with the same results: a crazy cycle with no clarity or skills of how to work/cope/manage my trauma recovery. Joel Blackstock used simplistic, state-of-the-art treatments to begin my healing. The quick results were transformative and tangible. He is intelligent, compassionate and invested in walking me through the processes. I've been seeing him for a couple of years and will continue to trust him with my well-being.

This may be a great practice but I contacted them three times by email on their portal and left messages in June 2024 and they not once got back to me. How discouraging when you’re looking for help and you get no response:(

Joel Blackstock is a talented, kind, and empathetic therapist. He is clearly passionate about helping others and wants the best for his clients’ outcomes. He is trained in EMDR to help with ptsd and incorporates it along with his years of experience into the process.
