When I first arrived at Algamus, I was in one of the lowest points of my life. I didn’t know if I could ever beat gambling—it felt like it had complete control over me. I wasn’t sure if change was even possible. But after completing the 35-day program, I can confidently say I walked out a completely different person: stronger, healthier, and more at peace with myself than I’ve ever been. Most importantly, I've remained gamble-free. The professionals on staff are top notch. Stephanie, the psychiatrist, was absolutely incredible—she has a way of teaching that makes everything click, and her lessons still guide me every day. Anthony brought this calm wisdom to his group sessions, and his quotes and insights stuck with me in a way I’ll never forget. Terrence’s sessions were eye-opening and gave me practical tools that I could immediately apply. And then there’s Doug, the house manager. Having been through his own battles, he understood me on a level no one else could. He went out of his way to make sure I was supported whenever I needed it. On top of that, I met people here that I’ll consider friends for life—others who had been in the same position I was in. That sense of connection and community in recovery is priceless. If it weren’t for Algamus, I honestly don’t know where I would be right now. Since finishing the program, I haven’t had a single urge to gamble—not one. That in itself feels like a miracle. In January 2015, in the midst of a 36 year gambling addiction, I called Algamus after a search for an addiction treatment program geared specifically for gamblers. A few days later, I entered the program in AZ that saved my life and restored my sanity. In January 2025, I celebrated 10 years since my last bet. The program comes at this insidious addiction from many angles: individual and group counseling, an on-site mental health professional, education about the disease, 12-step meetings (Gamblers Anonymous), exercise, field trips, biofeedback, etc. If you are reading this review, then you (and/or your loved ones) think you may be a compulsive gambler. Only you can decide. If you are suffering in what you think is an endless cycle of despair, this program can break that cycle. It worked for me and turned my life around.

Absolutely life changing experience! Algamus has helped me get my life back on track. The counselors and therapist they provided for me when I was there went above and beyond to help me and others, they’re some of the best counselors in the United States. They not only concentrated on gambling addiction, they educated us on how we are living are current life’s and teaching us the necessary skills to live are future life with 100% fulfillment. The house and the and the environment we were in was perfect, it was very comfortable environment both at the house and at the office (classroom). Algamus was a life changing experience the tools provided by the staff to the housing experience with my peers. You cannot find better people to learn from and i highly recommend.
