Would love to have my daughter there

I never do reviews but I am concerned about what I have experienced happening to anyone else. My name is Kimberly and I am an addict in recovery. I'd l I ke to start off being accountable by saying had I never self sabotaged myself I wouldn't of had to find a place to help me recovery from childhood trauma , alcohol and drug addiction however I didn't cope properly and I got myself into a strong hold which I. Grateful to be catching before it's too late and death and institutions are all my family have left of me. With that all being said. Please do your homework and read reviews because had I done that 1st then I would not be sitting in the ER at Baylor in a state I do not live in with no support nearby wondering why the center that called 9.1.1. 2 days ago is now telling me they no longer can keep my bed when I was suffering a TIA stroke due to conflict with another girl in the home bullying and running things due to favoritism manipulation and bullying tactics. They work off a seniority system which is great and effective to each individual however when one addict starts bossing around another addict it's a problem. When staff had to be asked by me to explain the rules to the house to the new comers because we are having other girls in treatment getting frustrated having to tell us the rules that's a problem.....when your given an LE which is a learning experience write up aka spank on the hand and has consequences attached to it by another client in the home who has child hood trauma and bullying issues that's a problem. This is what happened to me and I will just tell you I've never felt more trapped , unheard and more unsafe then I did there. That's truly unfortunate. They have many beds open at the moment and they are telling me that because I've had to come here due to my health which they were told about previously but chose to not let me have my medication which is a blood thinner because of the bottle being opened already that's a huge problem it's discrimination and it's abandoning a client aka patient. They could simply eliminate bullying and allowing senior peers to tell others peers what to do vs staying in their bubble or lane and staff can be more consistent but Instead I'm having to send an Uber to get my belongings so they are not donated in 24 hours from a facility I drove 15 hours to be at. I will also say there is alot of greatness and great staff at this facility and the clinical team is amazing but the actual home needs a better POA , have exit strategies when emergencies happen and most importantly it needs a Safer" safe place "environment plan in my opinion. Not all of us have been to prison or jail and not all of us were raised the same so allowing uneducated clients tell other clients what to do or kicking off their shoes getting ready to fight is not what my trauma driven addicted mind and heart needed that's for sure. Just educate yourself on every level before choosing a place for your loved one. That is the best advice I can give you. For me this wasn't it and I'm disappointed because I felt blessed to be given a bed there and now I'm feeling blessed to beggetting my things from there and this will not be the end of my recovery. I won't and don't have to use again and I pray your loved one never does either. When staff sees a problem and makes use correct it it becomes a staffing problem. To much drama for me. It was like high school all over again. Too much bullying going on.

I got sent here from the center detox I liked it there better than alpha. The girls there are like girls in high and prison mixed together but that's only the beginning first off your better going cold turkey than to be totally isolated from your family and friends or people or at least comfortable around they say its voluntary but they bully you and make you feel like you have no other choice but to stay where your pretty much alone the girls all clique up everyone in your business or trys too be the counselors suck they make everyone else story your story i had literally run away from there tik tok has better recovery tools than this place

I stayed at Alpha House to help recover from the loss of my daughter and my addiction to alcohol. The environment here is like being in a prison. The counselors allow the girls to bully other girls making their recovery even more traumatizing. the girls are like vultures when it’s dinner time, trampling each other to get food. I was thrown out on the street without anywhere to go simply because I was trying to stop two pregnant girls whom were still using from fighting.I hope that whoever runs this charity will investigate the counselors and the unlivable situation that it provides creating more trauma for people trying to heal from their trauma.

Love alpha home.Tracy my counselor is an amazing woman. I still use all the skills of sobriety she taught me on a day to day basis. living is loving.

This program was pretty easy to follow the only problem was the staff. The main issue was my counselor, her name was Valerie Castro. Me and other ladies that had her as a counselor were really disappointed with the extreme and harsh punishments that she would give us. She is really a very bad insensitive person. I believe that she should not be able to treat her clients this way. She discourages recovery and completion on the program because she will give the worst punishments without taking the clients point of view into consideration. Due to her being my counselor unfortunately I had a terrible experience.
