This place was not helpful at all it was good for me to have a schedule and be around people but it didn’t help my ed. I was faced with extreme judgment and judgmental faces when I shared deep things about where my head was at with my ed which really hurt me, because I wasn’t met with compassion just judgement. My first day here I remember them telling us that there was a FOOD BUGET! Excuse me this is an eating disorder facility where we pay $1,300 a day to be there why is there a budget on food when that’s the majority of why were there or allowed to bring our own food when food ran out. I remember weekly reminders they were on a budget, and my last week the restrictions on food got worse while they were piling on more patients where there was not enough room for us to sit and one by one staff was quitting while they kept admitting people with limited staff. They only care about getting your insurance money providing no treatment just worksheets and watching tv, and random things that have nothing to do with eating disorder care. They don’t know how to help people with anorexia, they only have high calorie food, high sugary processed junk and count it as small exchanges and basically are asking you to have the opposite ed and giving you diabetes in the process.

As a past patient who went here at 11 years old and struggled with anorexia I do agree with some of these reviews, like i did not enjoy the meal plans, or some dietitians that had worked there, but i did enjoy group therapy and the activities we would do. I personally do not recommend at least this location if you or a close one needs help because when I started at Center for discovery. I started at residential in La Habra, which was a very good experience but this location I didn't enjoy as much, and I thought there was a lot of things they could fix.

First hand experience, would have to agree with these ratings.

As a person with binge eating disorder I found this place has made my condition worse rather than better. Their ridiculous meal plans and portioning has helped me gain a significant amount of weight. The HAES(health at every shape) mentality is nice, but I don't feel anymore healthy at all after some time in treatment. Everyday I leave treatment bloated and mentally/physically drained and exhausted. Everyone is friendly and tries to be helpful, but most of the staff is inexperienced and the groups are poorly scheduled. There was almost 2 hours of downtime several days during the week. There are very few adult patients in the evening, so there is a lot more focused treatment. So that's a plus. Ultimately though, the point of coming into in-person therapy is a group environment and support from peers. There are very few others present the majority of the time. I would recommend this facility for people with restricting behaviors because most of the therapy is geared towards that type of recovery, but they're unprepared and poorly trained for anything else. The afternoon adult IOP program and the evening teen IOP program are the most beneficial as far as my observations.

I do think there’s a lot of staff here that cares about their patients but they often have counterproductive and sometimes even deluded ways of demonstrating that.

I kinda wanna even out the one star reviews because in my experience it wasn’t that bad. I would say most of the therapists are kind and helpful and I met some really amazing people there and I do believe it helped me in my recovery. I feel bad for those who had negative experiences here because I know it’s a struggle:(

Absolutely terrible. I have to agree with all the other reviews about the lack of experience, judgmental attitude, and complete ineffectiveness of the majority of the staff and definitely of the program as a whole. Really, the ONLY benefit to being here was meeting another client who is now one of my closest friends. Other than that, this place was re-traumatizing (worthless for anything except super basic trauma management, not therapy - basically grounding skills that you could get better instruction on with YouTube videos) and had no concept of how to help someone with complex PTSD. Honestly, I think the people there were simply under-trained, inexperienced, and poorly supported but mostly cared about clients, so I've refrained from leaving a review. However, now - 18 months later - CFD has begun to harass me with calls from a collections agency with claims that I owe close to $4,000 - even though I have sent documentation multiple times to their billing department showing that CFD's own representatives put IN WRITING that I owed $0 in co-payments and out of pocket expenses! I just wasted more of my time on a phone call with said collections agency, during which the agency rep expressed how ridiculous this was and apologized for having to bother me with this. Get your act together, CFD. Clearly I'm not alone in my awful experience.

Horrible, horrible experience. Center for discovery glendale should be shut down. Their groups have no substance...they are basically an awkward 45 minute staring contest. What a waste of time and money. The therapists there are a joke. They look like all they are doing is having fun. I don't know how anyone can get better there. Please...DO. NOT. GO. THERE.
