Very friendly staff and my peers (the other patients) were pretty chill too. Was able to recover from a depressive episode. The facility itself is with its gym, craft room, patio, and overall not scary but warm vibe (contrary to regular hospitals). Food was surprisingly good in my opinion. I will say nurses do have a tendency to say “maybe tomorrow” when you ask when you be released. Other than that I am content with my experience there.

I can only guess this entity has it's hands in big pharma. Absolutely zero therapy takes place. None. Residents are 'turned out' in a yard 2-3 times daily to walk in circles and then typically taken to the 'activity room' where staff sit on their phones and residents are given coloring pages; something that resembles the lowest level of daycare imaginable. Numerous 'groups' are posted that would lead you to believe therapy was taking place but it's a farce. There are a few staff members that seem to be there for the right reasons and out of frustration they will disclose other staff has instructed them to treat the patients poorly, or not at all. The caring staff (who are few and far between) seem to be mortified by the lack of actual therapy/help. This facility is meant for one thing and one thing only; experiment with meds. While there the amount of outbursts, dangerous situations and unrest with the residents were too numerous to count, most likely due to the lack of care +/- the lack of therapy. If you'd like your loved one to be comatose with medication, send them in. If you'd like actual therapy with a team, avoid this place at all costs. In my five days I spoke to a Dr twice and a social worker once. No therapists, not one; I'm not even sure there are any on staff. Luckily, after a court hearing, I was released. Essentially once you are there the only way to escape is through a court hearing. More beds full = more money. It makes perfect sense this is privately owned, if it were run by the state, it would've been shut down by now. Get help outside of here.

I was broken and in bed for almost a month suffering from debilitating depression and a broken heart before entering the CVBH facility. I was scared to ask for help and even more afraid when the admissions staff very kindly and graciously opened their doors to me offering me a bed right away. I took the risk despite my fear of the unknown, and drove to Indio from desert Hot Springs and smoked 3 cigarettes before walking through the front door, even though i had quit smoking. That's how sacred I was!! And immediately my fears disappeared. The amazing Mark and Teresa were there to welcome me. They made me feel comfortable and "at home" within minutes. I am grateful to Heather and Felecia as well who answered the phone when I reached out for help. All the staff were impeccably kind, professional, empathetic, friendly, and gave me personalized attention whenever I needed it. And they did it with grace and dignity, even though oftentimes I'm sure they were on their last nerve having to deal with our many needs, wants and specific mental health issues.. In my mind they are all ROCKSTARS!!! I'm back home now after spending 6 days under their care and I feel refreshed and revived!! I got my MOJO back!! THEY gave me my MOJO BACK!! And I thought it was lost and buried forever. So I thank you all for the part each of you played in restoring me back to a stabilized mental health and might I even add some joy is back in my life. I actually want to get out of bed and embrace life again. And that is the most priceless gift anyone or any place can ever give you. I am forever grateful!! A special shout out to Niko, the best peer support specialist in the West! And to Nurse Jeriah! She went above and beyond to make sure all my needs were met and she never made me feel like I was burdening her!! But honestly all the staff were simply wonderful!! The creme of the crop in this industry because I have been around the block when it comes to my mental health, so I know and appreciate top quality care when I receive it. And unfortunately in the mental health industry it is rare to receive such personalized and compassionate care. I can't say enough about my amazing experience at CVBH, so if you're struggling I urge you to call them and take that leap of faith. You deserve it. You deserve to live the life of your dreams. Forget the stigma attached to mental illness. It is just as common and important to treat as is someone with a kidney condition or diabetes. The brain is just another organ in the body and needs medical attention sometimes. So go for it because you and your life are worth it. I wish all of you much love and many blessings along the way. Boring staff, not so good treatment not much freedom go to the one in riverside instead

This place was so kind and caring. Staff never judged me or talked down to me. I felt safe there. For was mid, but they try. I would totally recommend this place for someone or their loved one.

They don't answer the phone and my cousin was released with no medication after treatment. The nurses in the unit were nice and helped him .

The staff truly cares about their patients; the main issue is that they’re constantly rotated every day (morning shift and night shift), so there is inefficiency in them trying to catch up and figure out what their coworkers from the previous shift left behind. Let the cafeteria know ahead of time if you have any dietary restrictions so that they can prepare an appropriate meal for you. Don’t be afraid to let the staff know if another patient is bothering you; you will be looked out for so long as you make them aware of your concerns. Karl the therapist is very helpful in teaching coping mechanisms and provides papers to have a solid reminder of what resources to draw upon for later. The nurses that I had the most positive experiences with were Tony, Evan and Oliver. I could talk to them about anything. Oh, and make sure to bring/request paperback books and a sweater. Reading helps pass the time much more easily, and the building is cold for cleanliness reasons. If you can’t acquire a sweater, you can request an extra pair of scrubs and socks to layer over your current outfit. Make sure to attend recreational therapy whenever you can; getting to go into the courtyard for sunlight, the gym (more like a basketball court) for some exercise, and especially the arts and craft room for coloring, drawing and origami helped keep me busy in a good way here.
