Mental Health Center of San Diego

Amazing staff but bitter and mean administration. I was at a wonderful facility elsewhere when my benefits changed and I was sent to this place where people that actually met me were kind. One day, there was a rumbling of a room change but no one had actually said anything to me yet and I am tossed the cell phone and it's a program administrator yelling, literally, yelling at me bout "why I have a problem with it". It was all so jarring. So, because that happened on day 6 and pissed me off enough for another man to speak to me that way---I left AMA. Ya wanna know what this facility won't do? Help me continue my claim for disability because "I was supposed to do it while I was there". Take a chance if you want, the staff are worth it but what it's also saying is that those 6 days weren't worth anything because according to them no treatment happened and I wasn't seen as trying to get the help I needed. Update: 11/2/2025 I’m going back in because all I can remember now is how I felt safe. They took me to my religious services and never complained. Everyone made me feel so welcomed and cared for, from the chef to the tech to the clinician. I’m excited to return and not let anything blow me of course as I’m confident MHC, will not only ensure I’m heading the right direction but ensure nothing can get in my way of success. I look forward to updating my review in the near future.

I was a client at MHC San Diego and cannot recommend their program enough. The staff, therapists, and psychiatric nurse practitioner saved my life truly. I was a mess and resistant to treatment long term. After having a week in the program I knew I was where I needed to be. The thoroughness and thoughtfulness that goes into each day is above board and excelled me into a better life. I am forever grateful and honored to have been apart of such a program. If you are in a space reluctant to get help, I encourage anyone and everyone to jump in and embrace the program to the fullest. You never know the life changing improvements and health that can come from it. I know for me it improved my life drastically and put me on a better path for the future. Thank you again MHC.

It's great

Very clean, coordinated, organized and professional facility. I stayed for 52 days, out of all the programs I’ve been to this is the first that I’ve grown an attachment towards and did not want to leave. The support that is given here is exceptional of a residential facility and helped me tremendously to get back on my feet and restore to a state of health.

MHC has helped our daughter so much. She is in a much better place now after the MHC therapy. We are so thankful to MHC for the care and kindness they showed to our daughter. Thank you MHC!

Finding MHC when I did was one of the most fortunate events of my adult life. I was going through a time of intense acute grief, a recurrence of my major depression and anxiety, and had other mental health problems that hadn't been diagnosed yet. I wasn't abusing substances but my future was bleak. The Mental Health Center of San Diego was what I needed, and I believe the universe provided me with a path to get there, and my life will never be the same. To say I'm grateful to the people of MHC is a massive understatement. Their collective skill, compassion, patience, wisdom and caring lifted me up when I needed it most. I can't even express how highly I recommend this program for those who want to get help for their mental health issues. Thank you, MHC, for helping me find a way to bring joy back into my life.

The mental health center has been a life-changing place for me—a space where healing, growth, and self-discovery truly began. When I first arrived, I was filled with fear and uncertainty, thinking it would feel like a punishment. But instead, I found a community of support that made it easy to open up and face the pain I had buried for so long. The staff, especially my therapist Shelby showed me compassion, patience, and the tools to rebuild myself from the inside out. Through this journey, I’ve not only gained clarity about who I am, but I’ve also found a new purpose—to use my story to inspire others. This center didn’t just help me survive; it helped me find hope again.
