Oceans Behavioral Hospital Tupelo

I have given the outpatient program two tries. I came here after a low point in my life due to a suicide attempt. My first time around I was with the therapist Ms. Keisha. Genuinely one of the kindest people. You could tell she had a sweet, genuine soul. I stopped going because despite being in my mid twenties, I was put in a group with people 50+ and the group was not helpful for me. Most of our group sessions were Ms. Keisha getting me to explain the group topics to my fellow group members, so I did not feel like I was improving. Fast forward a few months, I hit another low point in my life. I came here to the outpatient program again because I remembered Ms. Keisha. My second time around Ms Keisha is not there anymore and I am put with a new therapist, Jacob. Jacob was the best therapist I have ever had. I completed my IOP program with Jacob and then went on to the PHP program. I was still with Jacob. I had worked closely with Jacob almost every day of the week for two months. The end of my PHP program was set for sometime in March, but March is a difficult month for me so I informed Jacob and asked for my program to be extended. I felt very cared for and safe there at this time. I looked forward to going. I felt like through Jacob's help I was improving exponentially. Then, towards the end of my PHP program they gave my group a new therapist. She is great. I have no problem with her. My problem is, why am I being placed with a new therapist towards the end of my program? Nothing against her, it is just I should not be having to go over everything again with a whole new therapist towards the end of my program. Especially after I told Jacob how difficult March was for me. I brought this issue up with Eddie who I will say tried to work with me. But the whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth. I left and cried the rest of the day. Also, Megan doesn't seem to care about patients. I have had two interactions with her where I was standing at the front desk for five minutes and she just kept working while I was standing there looking at her. It doesn't take 5 seconds to acknowledge a patient. I would know. I have worked in a mental health facility as a nurse aid. I came here because I had reached a critical point with my mental health back in January. My mental health is in a worse place now than when I started two months ago. And they have put a bad taste in my mouth about even seeking help concerning my mental health. Every therapist cancels or changes on me. This place was no different. They have made me feel that I am the problem and what is the point of seeking help for my mental health if the end result is always the same?

COMMUNICATION, COMPASSION, & CARE All of the above were EXCELLENT at the Oceans Behavioral Hospital. The staff were informative and caring. The staff contacted me daily with every decision or program that needed to be done to ensure the health and healing of my child. If I could give them a 10 out of 5 stars I would. They were the epitome of professionalism, care, and genuine concern for our family. I am extremely grateful for all they did to give my child the tools she needed to move forward positively in her mental and physical healing. Blessings.

A fair breakdown of how the schedule was for the youth. 5 A.M they wake you up to do blood pressure, then you can go back to sleep till 7 A.M, after you wake up you do a morning routine (brushing teeth, washing face, etc.). After the morning routine you’re in a pretty bland room with a couple of tables, a T.V (it’s not always on). They take you out and you get a snack before lunch, then after a bit you have lunch. You will spend A LOT of time coloring- which isn’t all bad, but after a minute it can get old. Anyways you get one call a day that lasts 5 minutes. Beware visiting on I believe on Sundays and Wednesdays tend to start late and end on time. Staff was great when I was there. Though I didn’t get any one on one time we did do group activities/therapy.

I loved this place ms carly and ms Jessica are truly amazing I love them they truly made me feel understood and helped me so much I hope they know how amazing they are they’ve both helped me through some tough times and actually listened to me fully and you can tell that they actually care about every patient. Ms Jessica is very understanding and always knows exactly what to say when I was upset or having a rough day and she would always make time for me. Ms Carly was always super nice to me and has pulled me aside a few times to check in on me. I really enjoyed iop and the staff were all very nice. I love you ms Carly and ms Jessica thank you both for everything.- Ani

My son was denied for having a past due bill there , isn’t that illegal? He’s bipolar, and has been manic experiencing a psychosis episode

Please be aware of this place!!! They are very unprofessional and their morals are definitely not in tact. I won’t refer my dog.

Worst place ever, non of the staff do their jobs.

My son went to the Oceans IOP program. He went through a rough time and the therapist at Ocean’s took great care of him. Everyone at this location truly cared for him and his mental health. All of the staff are top notch and pour their heart into every one of these kids. Megan, Jessie Marie, Hannah, Dreko and Carley do an amazing job. My son still talks about Ms Carley 6 months after finishing his therapy. He is still doing therapy but has moved to one on one therapy once weekly and he is in such a better place mentally and emotionally. I will be forever grateful for the awesome staff at Ocean’s IOP.
