I was discharged 3/31/2026 and I was told my black coach purse wasn’t on my property sheet. The nurse herself said she saw me walk in with it. Then a woman name Nidia (could be misspelling her name) said they DID see me walk in with my bag and it must have been misplaced and they’re investigating it. I had to call the police and file a report for my own records. If you ask me my bag was stolen. I’ve never had this happen to me at any rehab before. Then a woman name Lauren a recovery coach gave me her number and told me to reach out to her or follow up with john brooks blah blah blah. I texted her and her response was that they’re still investigating. Then my last message never said delivered so I had to send as a text message so i’m assuming she blocked me. I had pink exfoliating gloves that I brought with me as well and those are missing. The nurses are downright rude and from the street (not all of them) One nurse pulled the blinds down as i’m sitting in front of her, and told me to get off “her” line and she with be giving me my meds ……the meds the doctor put in for me. She then proceeds to say “you won’t be getting your medication” I told her I bet I will and guess what? I did. I wrote a grievance on her. Vincent the bald head tech is very rude. They have no manners and don’t know how to deal with people suffering with not only addiction but mental health. He tossed my vape onto the counter, I kindly removed my vape out the box and tossed the box on the counter the same way he did. A patient came out and told me he said “and you not gonna tell her anything about it either. Tracy the “self proclaimed “supervisor is nasty so it makes sense why the rest of the workers are the way that they are. Be very careful of this place. I made a comment about sexual intercourse going on in the facility and counselor Nikki who is useless immediately got defensive because I interrupted her bs gossip with Vincent. This place needs to be investigated. I called the state while I was waiting for a response about my bag. It’s been a week and I still have yet to hear from anyone. Cops told me if they can’t find it they’ll send me a check, can’t believe a word they say!

Staff is decent. Food is decent. Besides the fact that I knew people in the detox unit were still using, they helped me a lot.

SO I was in detox here at john brooks & I loved it . You have tvs in your room & its 2 other rooms that also have tvs , the food was ok not to bad. Only thing I didn't like about this place was the staff & nurses. Some were soo unprofessional. THE staff Cory i heard her talking about me to another staff about something that was none of her business , & the other staff she was a Muslim she talked about me to other patients & they told me just all around staff always got attitudes & them nurses omg I never seen so many ppl who come to work & always got a attitude. The nurse lafatimah was soo unprofessional , rude , bc of how they acted i wouldn't refer that place to my dog. Ppl come there to get better and shouldn't have to deal with the pettiness that goes on there.

I will miss everyone here but I am excited to get back to everyday life and apply the tools that they showed me. Kind of sad to go but excited to get back to your life. I'll be back to visit. Love and miss you all! Laura Martinez 5 reviews 2 weeks ago New After the few first days I was able to meet my peers and felt welcomed. But instead of letting the patients speak in groups it's mostly the councilor talking about her life. Not to mention I've had family drop off 100$'s of items, essentials, that i never received or was i ever compensated for.

John Book’s Recovery Center in Pleasantville is extremely unorganized. The staff never seems to know what’s going on, communication is terrible, and nothing runs on schedule. Every time I reached out for information, I got different answers from different people. It feels like no one is properly trained or in charge. I expected professionalism and support, but ended up with frustration and confusion. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for reliable care.
