Ranch Hope Strang School

So I got sent to this school when I was a kid it's was in the middle of nowhere county . I got in trouble as I was not used to being in a group home like this place was it was set up in to different cabins or homes well I got sent to the Bata Houston with Mr Gary Pitts big black man very intimidating guy this school tiught me how to serive in the woods as I ran off and stayed out of the school for 5 days had to read the kitchen I was terrified one time I ran off the house leader Gary Pitts sent the hole house kids out to get me. Back i can rember laying in the swamps hiding as they walked over me what do you think they would do to me if they got me so I got brought back to the Bata house witch let me start how this place was they had what you call hardware cloth on the window this ment you could not get out even if there was a fire crazy well hey took my cloths all but my underwear well I kicked that window cover out and me and another guy ran i rember getting to a payphone called my parents who then called the police and I was picked up by my dad and never returned to that hell I was trapped in his this place is still open is beyond words

My dad was born in 1963 and went here from around the ages of 8-12 ish I believe. We were nearby due to my little brother having a lacrosse tournament, but I have long heard of this school before from nostalgic memories my dad experienced. So, my dad went here during the early 70s and he contributes his success as an adult to this school and program still, almost half a century later. He was aggressive and out of control as a child and his parents just couldn't handle him so they sent him here. Over the years he got married, had four children, and a successful contracting company that he built from the ground up on his own. My dad isn't a perfect man but he's a good man. So I guess I am also thankful for this school and hope it is still doing justice to those in need of guidance and care. Thank you Ranch Hope for helping my dad when he needed it most.

Shameful place. Children are not safe.

I spent 4 yrs there 88-92. There was some good counselors there ..like anywhere it gonna have it's ups and downs ..dyfs was actually working on having me spend my entire life there . Never happened but always wondered what has happened to the counselors and some of the guys I made friends with

They do a great job with our challenged youth.

I went here 10 years ago when I was 15 and may I say it was horrible. One of the people supervising us threw a girl who went here through a wall. She was domineering and agressive. Another was selling weed to the kids. At one point there wasn't enough beds so we all piled into a minivan, there wasn't enough seats, so we laid on top of eachother, no seat belts to get to a facility with enough beds. And the food sucks survival ain't enough.
