I was recently admitted as an adolescent patient at your facility, and I feel compelled to formally document my experience due to several serious concerns regarding patient care, staff conduct, and overall treatment conditions.
From the beginning of my stay, the environment felt unwelcoming and, at times, hostile. I frequently encountered unnecessary attitude from staff members, which only added to an already difficult and vulnerable situation. On one occasion, while I was visibly distressed and crying, I was told that if I did not stop crying, my stay would be extended. This response felt both inappropriate and counterproductive, as it did not offer support or de-escalation, but instead came across as a threat.
Additionally, the quality of the food provided was consistently poor. Meals were often dry and unappetizing, which made it difficult to maintain proper nutrition during my stay.
Communication among staff appeared to be severely lacking. Whenever I asked questions regarding my discharge—such as when I might be leaving or what steps I could take to work toward discharge—I was repeatedly met with vague responses like “I don’t know.” This lack of clarity and guidance caused unnecessary stress and confusion.
There was also a significant breach of privacy during my stay. While I was showering one day, a staff member entered the bathroom without warning after I had already stated that I was finished. I had only been in the shower for approximately four minutes, as I tend to take quick showers. Despite informing her that I was done, she insisted otherwise and entered without giving me time to cover myself, which was both distressing and inappropriate.
Furthermore, I observed that when patients like myself chose to refuse treatment or group participation, staff members would often respond with rudeness and pressure, insisting that participation was mandatory. This is concerning, as patients have the right to refuse treatment without facing hostility or coercion.
My interactions with one of the male doctors were also troubling. When I attempted to communicate my feelings and legitimate concerns, I was dismissed and accused of being dishonest. This lack of empathy and professionalism made it difficult to trust the care I was receiving.
Perhaps most concerning is that during my entire 10-day stay, I was not provided with my actual prescribed medications. This is a serious issue that directly impacts patient health and safety. Due to the overall negative experience and lack of proper care, I ultimately felt compelled to say whatever was necessary in order to be discharged. In the end didn't get any actual help like I came there for due to having to resort to lying to get out.
Overall, my experience at your facility was deeply disappointing and, at times, distressing. I hope that by bringing these issues to your attention, steps can be taken to improve patient care, staff training, communication, and respect for patient rights.
