Sierra Vista Hospital

I recommend going to any other hospital in the Sacramento area. Staff is very rude to family, they do not provide clear answers and lack any amount of empathy that you would expect to be given in this situation. It is INCREDIBLY difficult to reach anyone over the phone, the nurse line frequently goes to voicemail (which practically never happens at other hospitals), they do not call family when the client requests them to, do not call if the family (with an ROI) requests them to, and do not reach out regarding discharge planning within a timely manner. I understand the patient in my situation is an adult but when the patient is actively begging you to call their family so they will be able to go home safely, I expect that to be done. Next, the patients are not consistently provided care. There appears to be a large difference in quality of care between shifts with some staff speaking very rudely to patients, not being spoken to by staff at all throughout the day (not even for rounds which is crazy), and not being provided basic necessities while staying here. It is crazy to me that someone would have to ask multiple times for a pillow, blanket, hairbrush, toothpaste, shower items, water, and be unable to receive those until a day or two later. Yes you’re busy, if you’re that busy then you should hire more staff or transfer the patients to a hospital better able to take care of them. The patients should come first, not chatting in the staff office. Additionally, it is baffling to me that there are no readily available grievance or suggestion forms. In order to stay anonymous that shouldn’t be something I need to ask staff for. I will be reaching out to licensing and the local Ombudsperson to express my concerns and I highly encourage anyone who has concerns to do the same. The people you treat here are very vulnerable sierra vista and you NEED to do better. The clients deserve better.

I was here for a week.i would not recommend going here or letting your kids I was on the adolescent until the staff was insanely rude would lie and wouldn't do anything to accommodate kids needs I had to sleep on the floor just for a goodnight of sleep I watched staff tell a girl who was in full blown med induced pyscosis get told she's faking for attention and nothing is wrong with here after 8 hours of her yelling begging for help only then did they bring her to the ER.that is insane,the food also sucked some kitchen staff were extremely rude to bigger patients I cannot stress enough do not come over or send a loved one here it is not worth it.

They let my friend Christine Russell run away and she's dying on the streets. The cops found her but said they didn't have a report of a missing person from here. Terrible management and I will be suing!

Guard at the front is rude and aggressive to visiting family trying to find out visitor hours or looking for information. No reason for it, was nice and let people by as I was reading the posted sign. If they allow that for this simple situation, how do they treat people inside? Not a good first interaction Sierra.

If I could give it a zero I would! Worse place ever! The psychiatrist was very unprofessional, he hung up on me while I was still speaking to him. I then called back then Tiffany answered and won’t give the phone to the psychiatrist. She keeps telling me he’s not in the unit, I kept asking her to transfer me to whatever unit he’s in. She kept insisting that he’s not there. Anyways, I work in a facility just like this too so I know how it goes down.

My experience personally just prepared me for the real world I will over come all the obstacles in life they had a listening ear at any time I needed and I made it out and that is truly was needs to be recognized I will truly miss ALL THE STAFF

Went here in 2018, so it was a while ago. I willingly went. I was a teenager at the time and there was a couple staff that were wonderful. However, majority of my experience was terrible. My anxiety (which was part of the reason I was admitted) shot through the roof. A staff member was taking my vitals and I was sobbing because I wanted to go home. She looked at me, deadpan, and told me, "You want to go home, don't you? Suck it up." I hope she doesn't work there anymore. I never saw her smile or be friendly to anyone. 7 years later, her words and how she made me feel in the moment still stick to me like glue. They also neglected to get me my medication for two days I was there. I went two days unmedicated, which especially at the time sent me into a complete spiral. They had us line up like prisoners, we weren't allowed to go outside in the garden, so I hadn't seen the sun for the 8 days I was there. At the time, I literally pretended to be okay so I could go home. They also woke me up several times at 4 in the morning to draw my blood. I get there's schedules and everything, but seriously?? The meals they fed us tasted like school cafeteria food, and they'd often give us things that usually required a knife and fork to cut, but with only a spoon, it was impossible to eat. And gave us tiny little thin napkins which made eating with your hands a nightmare. I get it, no forks or knives, of course. I'm doing much better now, and happier than I ever have been in my life, though this mental facility did not contribute to me getting there.

It’s damn near impossible to get ahold of the doctors. And when you do get a hold of someone they send you through just to go to voicemails. Unanswered. Dr Parikh does not treat his patients well. He prescribes medications with out probable cause. And when you have questions, you can’t get ahold of anybody. After care is horrible.
