This place is all about the Benjamin’s. The therapists were fine, but corporate and management only cared if insurance paid. If not, or if insurance only paid partial, they will drop you. And then, without being told, they will try to make you pay what the insurance company did not. After you explain that you would never have agreed to pay if insurance could not, they will have debt collectors chase after you. All for money that you never agreed to pay. I was doing fairly well on my sobriety path, but this set me back. I have found my sobriety in AA. There are people who really care about you there. It isn’t about the money like it is at Foundations. If you are looking for sobriety, I pray that you find it. I certainly did not at this corporate program.

This place is a sanctuary for mental health recovery. The therapists (all of them ...especially Leslie ❤️), office manager (Sydney, you rock), nurse practitioner and program managers (Annie and Andy) are all incredible and truly wants to help and heal. Nonjudgmental and compassionate healing starts here. They create a safe community to recover and grow. They understand and care.... They truly do. Thank you 🙏

I feel like as a woman of color my concerns with diversity were not listened to at all. I routinely watched nonbinary people getting misgendered. One therapist, David, routinely showed racial preference towards white men in the sessions in choosing who was to speak and I got silenced and ignored as a woman of color. When I brought up my racial concerns to another member of the staff they were brushed off and dismissed as something that couldn't be changed. This morning I was feeling happy before going to IOP and now I am really unhappy, so it was not therapeutic for me at all. There were some really great therapists there you should try to see privately like Benji.

The facility is modern, well maintained, and located in a beautiful area of San Francisco. The staff is friendly, well organized, and seem to genuinely care for clients.

After trying various inpatient programs, IOP, harm reduction methods, and continually struggling to maintain sobriety, I was drawn to Foundations for its dual diagnosis treatment approach. My psychiatric provider recommended finding a program that could address both my mental health and substance use disorder, and Foundations proved to be the perfect fit. The intake process, though it took some time over the phone, was handled with care and understanding by Dana. She navigated the sensitive questions with grace, despite them delving into past traumas. Upon arriving for my first day, I was warmly greeted and guided through the necessary paperwork, which was comprehensive and provided me with valuable information to refer back to at my own pace. I found the group sessions to be particularly impressive, with counselors adeptly guiding discussions on challenging subjects. As someone familiar with such programs, I expected a certain level of professionalism, which the counselors consistently demonstrated. The group format, including individual check-ins and educational components, fostered a sense of community among clients—a vital aspect of the recovery journey. The educational components were delivered in a manner that felt relevant and engaging, thanks to the counselors' deep understanding of the subjects. Their diverse backgrounds, ranging from end-of-life chaplaincy to somatic therapy, brought valuable perspectives to the discussions. Topics, centered around DBT strategies, were rotated regularly, ensuring a well-rounded approach to treatment. In addition to group sessions, clients benefit from weekly drug testing, individual therapy, and access to case management—a comprehensive support system designed to address various aspects of recovery. The physical space at Foundations is welcoming and comfortable, with amenities like couches, ping pong tables, and a well-stocked kitchen contributing to a sense of ease. The presence of adorable dogs further adds to the inviting atmosphere. Moreover, the convenience of nearby parking in a parking structure with validated parking has been a huge bonus, easing logistical concerns and adding to the overall positive experience at Foundations. On a deeply personal level, I can't emphasize enough how much I cherish Foundations. My success in recovery wouldn't have been possible without it. As a professional, it provided me with a supportive environment where peers understood the challenges I faced. I've forged meaningful friendships and a sense of community that has been crucial to my journey. The bonds I've formed with the staff have allowed me to be my true self—a tremendous relief in itself. In fact, I've continued my involvement with Foundations by participating in their weekly outpatient program. The structured approach and unwavering support have been instrumental in maintaining my progress. Being part of their alumni program is another highlight for me. It's incredibly fulfilling to connect with past clients, old and new friends alike, and share our experiences, challenges, and successes in recovery. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Foundations. Its holistic approach, supportive atmosphere, dedicated staff, and convenient amenities make it a beacon of hope for anyone seeking lasting recovery.
