I can't for the life in me understand why the state of New Jersey Recovery Court see this institution as being fully qualified and reputable. Do they NOT see any of these reviews. This place is terrible and highly incompetent. They are not capable of knowing the first thing about Recovery. The state prison system is run better than Straight & Narrow in respect to treating people under their custody. The struggle to repair all of the wrong doings there has just begun. They have challenged the right person to make changes. No threats just looking for justice of the clients well being. Stay tuned! Update: Found a reputable news team to help. N 1991 I was in the juvenile program for 14 months , we had to stand and pick foam into a barrel all day without talking

This program is one of the worst programs I ever seen in my life. I literally just left there and they discharge me because I got into altercation mind you I never physically hit anyone, but I have seen people that have and still was able to stay., They bring up my mom being in a mental illness state when she came up there, which was very unprofessional because I thought the organization was not supposed to do that because that is confidentiality The staff there is very mean unprofessional, and the whole program is unorganized. It was plenty of times I wrote write ups in grievance On the staff there to my counselor and I continue to do it and steal nothing was done.

Great place for men in recovery.

At first thought, I thought I was pulling into a parking lot for an abandon building. Turned out it was the correct parking lot for Straight and Narrow visits. Facility was in an extreme state of distress. If you care anything about the conditions your love ones will be living in than this is not the place. Squeezing every penny out of New Jersey tax payers as they can. They're not about the people, they're about the money.

I'm ONLY giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because my counselor Grace was helpful. The RL Staff (there are always exceptions, but for the most part) treated us awful. I've never been anywhere that it was acceptable to yell/curse at clients, discuss clients with other clients; in the Mommy & Me, the women were forced to spend 2+ hours in the "wellness center" with their children with absolutely NOTHING to do, & not even enough chairs for everyone. I didn't care about the food and the physical aspects of the facility, but the groups were mostly pointless, the staff incredibly unprofessional, and it was very sad that kids were stuck in their strollers all day. There were fights all the time and it was client vs client, client vs staff, and nothing was done to truly address the issues. I grew a lot there because I focused on my goals and it does allow clients to accumulate some clean time, but it is NOT a place to go if you really need outside help or really want to learn about how to grow in recovery.

If you looking for some bougie rehab, this is not for you. This is a place where people go court ordered from Dyfus Or drug Or drug court. But it’s not that bad what is bad is their mommy and me program.

Straight & Narrow is not perfect, but neither is anyone. They have they're flaws and imperfections just like I do. If the place was absolutely perfect people would find something to complain about. It's just how it goes. I had a warm bed, hot food, and although the groups were limited, it was my choice to attend more than I was scheduled to go to. So that's what I did. People complained about group time and then complained about down time because they were bored.. I guess it's a journey that is decided individually. I opted to go to every group everyday and every opportunity I had I would volunteer for things to do to help. I was rarely bored and always looked forward to the weekdays rather than weekends because I liked the groups. They didn't keep me longer than originally discussed when I arrived as others were saying. But then again, maybe others didn't participate to their potential or maybe others didn't take the initiative to show their counselors what their intentions were. Some people want to get better and some people are court ordered to be there. The. Some, like me, were court ordered but wanted to get better. I completed a relapse prevention plan to present to my counselor and constantly asked her for more work books to better myself so she knew my intention was authentic. I guess I just felt that it was important for me to clarify my experience there because nobody pointed out anything positive, here's something. THE PLACE GAVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE AT LIFE, IF YOU DONT TAKE IT AND IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO YOUR RECOVERY, YOUR DOOMED TO REPEAT HISTORY. The only shot we have is inside of us, the four walls doesn't mean a whole lot. it's your personal motivation.. Ask yourself what you want more and why. Thank you straight & narrow for the opportunity to take advantage of your program and I couldn't be more pleased with the majority of the staff. My counselor, Emily, was a super helpful person and important role in my early recovery. She challenged my answers, which I respect, and she also made me be accountable for my own recovery. She Cares, that's ultimately how I feel about her and I can't thank her enough. I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants recovery and isn't worried more about the color of the paint or what mattress they have, that person probably doesn't want recovery to begin with....
