where can I even begin to describe the way Amend has transformed my life. My journey with Amend has in a mere couple of months has in short saved my life. It was the catalyst for the change that I was seeking for years after debilitating struggle. with a multitude of mental health issues, trauma, OCD, anxiety, depression, maladaptive coping skills, eating disorder and other issues I was stuck, lost and scared. After experiencing other treatment centers and hospitalizations that have left me with PTSD and left more scars, I lost trust that there was every going to be a safe center that would truly help and get to the root issues. However I came to a point in which I knew I could no longer proceed and after countless hours of research and hope, I stumbled across Amend.. and from the very first phone call that terrified me to ask about their program, to the last glance as I discharged from this safe haven, was I met with the kindest, most genuine, loving support that changed everything for me.
You will not be a client, or patient. You will be a human here. You will be treated with the utmost respect, autonomy, and dignity. Amend is not a business, and everyone who “works” here is not for money or because it is their responsibility. Every staff is there because they themselves understand that being human is difficult, and they firsthand understand how crucial mental health is. They are there because of their passion to help others find themselves once again and live a life that is fulfilling, authentic, and meaningful.. something each human being deserves. And with this intention, Amend takes a whole different approach to mental health treatment. They believe that Mental health is very individualized and complex and thus approach your treatment personally crafted for your recovery. Taking in only up to 6 clients at a time, the connections, vulnerability and friendships that occur are raw, real, and everlasting. You work with your main therapist, secondary therapist and family therapist 5 to 6 times a week.. and that’s not including the everyday groups, that take healing and recovery to another level. Self love , art therapy, seeking safety, DBT, identity, epigenetic and daily process groups each serve their purpose to allow space for each person to explore themselves, to learn, to heal, to grow, to forgive and make AMENDS with your life. Asking for help is the very hardest step but it is the most important on a path that will be painful, beautiful, confusing, exhilarating, scary, and liberating. It’s not just 30 days of therapy.. its 30 days of learning about yourself in ways you didn’t know possible.. That you are worthy of peace, love, and connection.. all pillars that Amend helps shape, and cultivate. It’s 30 days where you will most likely try things that open your eyes to a whole new perspective and relationship with others, yourself and the world. Holistic, integrative therapies and activities are daily that all aid into your treatment. My personal favorite was equine therapy (Leo will always hold a special place in my heart) surfing, movement group with the one and only Megan, reiki were invigorating. Drama and music therapy, Sound baths, puppy therapy, weekend outings, Daily beech walks and hiking was serene and soothing. Chef Emily and Chef Matt, and Chef Mani might forever change your standards of food as they create the most delicious, balanced, nourishing meals, To Madeline, Mathew, Daniel Shira, Jo, Tracy, Dr. Gindi, and Sarah as part of my team I am forever grateful for you not only helped me find myself when I was stumbling blind, You helped me realize that genuine connection and recovery is possible. And to all the CA’s you all will be a part of my life forever! To everyone I shared a moment with Amend, thank you. To everyone who read this far, all I have left to say is take the chance. Do this for yourself knowing that you deserve to be happy and get help from a place that will do everything to foster this.
