Great place
Really wanted to donate this year. Unfortunately receptionist was extremely rude to my husband who called to ask about donation information.
Tried to call to offer book donations, lady was pretty rude and said they no longer take used items, and to call 211 to ask where I can, is not bad to take donations even if they're used (if they really want to help kids), but manners are the ones that matters.
I was a baby along with 4 of my "birth" siblings who were all under the age of 10 when we came to live in the shelter during the 1950's. I may not remember the experience as well as my "birth" siblings. In the Summer of 1993 when my "birth" family members were reunited after 35 year's of separation. My oldest brother, two older two sisters and I visited "The Children's Shelter of San Antonio (which I believe it was called at that time.) The staff was very helpful with our visit. We couldn't be more pleased with our visit. It brought back many pleasant memories for my two older sisters while we walked around remembering what they experienced while living at the shelter. I even had the chance to see where the shelter housed the babies. The room that I lived in with all the crib We never had any negative feelings. It was a place where we felt most protected from the "outside" world. Update: This is where I lived basically the first year of my life along with my four oldest "birth" siblings (2 older brothers and 2 older sisters. I just remembered there were 4 older "birth" siblings who lived in this shelter from time to time while growing up in San Antonio, Texas during the 1950's.) It's complicated to remember everything at times.
Had a wonderful time and very helpful
Awesome place to learn about being a better father, awesome parenting classes
Amazing parenting program (free) to guide parenting in a mindful conscious manner that helps preserve the emotional intelligence of children, also amazing therapist that help to connect to kids thru play and offer social involvement for children with special activities with patient, kind and caring staff. Highly recommend
