D.A. Blodgett St. John’s

If I could give them a 0 I would. Some of the staff were very rude. My 2 girls were adopted out back in 2011 and I was promised pictures of them a few times a year up until they turn 18. My oldest will be 23 this year and my youngest will be 16 this year. This agency LIED to me big time. I haven't received pictures as promised through them or the adopted parents. I will absolutely NOT recommend this agency to anyone.

Very beautiful place!

I don't usually post reviews about businesses, however I felt it was important this time. I have only heard good things about DA Blodgett and what they do for families and children in need. But then my family worked with them to adopt our child. The worker they gave us clearly wasn't a fan of us. She would visibly look uncomfortable in our home and say odd things that felt very passive aggressive. She seemed to be a more conservative Christian lady, which... respect. However our home is LGBTQIA friendly and we have alternative spiritual beliefs. I feel this may have led to her negative feelings. She was very difficult to contact through phone or email. It would take a good 1-2 weeks for her to get back to us with simple questions. When we had to take our foster/adoption classes she scheduled it without telling us the time or code. We couldn't get a hold of her so we had to contact the people running the class directly. She brushed it off. On top of that she "lost" our surveys and multiple times said she didn't notice her emails where still in her inbox. "Must have forgotten to send it" Okay, sure. She also compared her mother passing to our children's situation of being separated from their siblings and parents which our kids thought was awkward and very uncomfortable as their siblings and parents haven't passed away. After struggling through a year with her we thought we were done. She told us the birth certificate renewal would take time, around 2-4 months. I waited about 3 months and asked for an update. We were told that "the court didn't send them" so now she has to do it all over again. We wait another 4 months and ask for updates. Both the worker AND her boss tell us it's our job now to figure it out if we haven't gotten the new certificate. I contact the state it would be coming from and the woman says she received a request to adopt TWICE but NO BIRTH CERTIFICATE RENEWAL REQUESTS. TWICE SHE SENT THE WRONG PAPERS. so I contacted Blodgett and they must have talked to her because she got in touch with us and redid the papers. We resigned and she re mailed them. We wait 2 weeks and she says she forgot to send things from her inbox. I wait another week or so and contact the other state again for updates on how long it might take since we've already waited 1 1/2 years at this point. The other state says that the forms were sent but that they were incorrect and a certified adoption decree was not included. So now I am frustrated and sad. I really thought Blodgett was going to pull through but now we are struggling with our daughters insurance and she's waiting to see doctors, therapists, and to correct school information. I would only recommend Blodgett if you don't get the same worker as we did. I understand her job is stressful and she may have a lot on her plate but to fail us over and over again and to be so apparently forgetful...I worry for others who try adopting with her as their support.

All the staff members are so nice

I believe God brought us Mrs Carol and I thank God for that with an autistic child and no one to count on you can count on D.A Blodgett ..even if it’s not the answer you wanted It has always been the best for my child. And I appreciate guidance in a turbulent situation raising autistic kids…lots of paper work but even that is streamline now with fancy computer applications and I can sign online. As a mother who lost her own mother I know and the Bible says get wise counsel. This I believe is a tangible example of wise counsel. Even if it’s a wait list please be patient.
