Hickory is very dishonest I was sexually harassed and touched inappropriately by another patient while staff was watching. They kept me longer than needed people are in there suffering and there is no therapy just meds . Food is good you barley get any rest because of the Bluetooth thing the techs open your door all night people need therapy not just drugs

Very good place, it's important to keep a good attitude. It's a very good hospital. But it is what you make it

Horrible workers picking up phones. I had a issue i asked to speak to a manager. I was places on hold and a lady came on stated she was the district manager i begin telling her wat i called for. Some odd reason the phone was disconnected i called back asked to speak with the very same person which was the district manager. The person on the line informed me that there is no way she can get the district manager on the phone and that i couldnt have been speaking with the district manager previously. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable . They do not care about you or your loved ones stay away from this place. Get some help some where else

UPDATED AT END: I've been to this facility twice and both times the head psychiatrist was a nightmare. He 'joked' about never letting me leave and told me ADHD wasn't real and that there's no testing for it. I obviously expressed how incorrect he was, but he wouldnt hear it. He then diagnosed me with amphetamine use disorder for the Adderall that I'M PRESCRIBED BY MY PSYCHIATRIST. Avoid this place at all cost. Absolute joke. UPDATE: Don't let the comment from Hickory fool you. I responded immediately following their reply to which they said nothing. They had no intention of fixing anything, simply wanted to appear as if they care. Disgusting, ineffectual ugly souled wastes.

ABSOLUTLEY DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!!! THIS PLACE IS A JOKE AND SO UNDER CARING OF THE PATIENTS. HUGE HIPPA VIOLATERS AND OVER MEDICATE THEIR PATIENTS !!! Where do I start? First, the staff is very unpleasant to deal with they do not show sympathy during the process at all! I called 4 times in regards to my loved one that was there to see what discharge would look like since they have a 72 hour hold on all patients. All 4 times I called I was told "the discharge nurse is not here, we will leave your name and number and just leave her a voicemail and she will get back to you". I then was able to speak to the psychiatrist face to face during visitation hours where he explained what he was medicating my loved one with 3 different medications but only had 2 out of the 3 medications listed on her charts. We were also in the process of having them fill out FMLA paperwork. While I was at visitations I was physically given the FMLA paperwork that had been completed. I got home and started reading over this paperwork and quickly found they had filled in out WITH ANOTHER PATIENTS INFORMATION ON IT!!!! This is a HUGE HIPPA violation!!! I called the day after once I had realized they filled out information for another patient on my family members paperwork and this is when they all of the sudden starting caring. They asked if I could bring the HIPPA VIOLATED paperwork back in that day??? I explained to them that would not be an issue if they could finally acknowledge my phone calls and questions regarding my loved one that was UNDER THEIR CARE. But, now that they are in the wrong and preforming against state board and the laws- they care??? Inside the facility- they do not have men and female's separated, yep everyone that is in their facility can get in to anyone else rooms because room doors do not get locked down at any time. My family member had a MALE worker walk in on HER while she was GETTING OUT OF THE SHOWER because the fire alarm had malfunctioned for the 3rd time that morning. I understand per policy and for the safety of the patients they still need to treat this as a real fire but there is a reason for knocking before entering. Also why are they not having female nurses/aids/workers checking on female patients and vis versa?? They do not have group at all!! They give the patients board games and cards to play all day and night. They get nothing offered to them in regards to actually bettering their mental health. My family member WILLING ran the groups the 4 days that she was there because the patients all agreed they wanted to talk to people about their problems and this is not something they offer inside of their facility. Another thing- they highly medicate all of their patients to the point they are aimlessly walking around the halls with their eyes closed for hours on in--- I saw this first hand during visitation hours. All patients are mandated to wear a ankle/wrist monitor, to which is linked to an iPad that staff carries around and scans to each patient every 15 minutes, if they cannot find a patient they will track them down with the tracking device in the monitor, I understand the concept of this and why this may be an issue is some cases. Also my loved one waited 40 hours to get her personal clothing back because they were having "dryer issues". When a patient does not have clothes clean they are provided with a jumpsuit of which is equivalent to something you would wear while incarcerated. I also noticed during visitation hours they were giving the patients that had family members there their clean clothes- this is a scam to make them seem like a good facility that they are not! I have so much more I could say about this facility but to save us all time please just think twice before sending your loved one here. This place need to be shut down and is a complete JOKE!!!!!!!

Hickory Behavioral was just the escape I needed to clear my head and discontinue getting in My own way. I stayed from 10-1-25 until 10-8-25 and the staff, Nurse Practitioner Laiken was straightforward as am I and also very compassionate with patients making sure anyone who needed to speak with her would be seen before she left. The RNs were top notch and explained the meds and effects accurately with kindness. The facility overall was tidy, cleanly, cleaned daily and the food as well as the cooks were highly exceptional and the group sessions were always filled with laughter and created a bond between patients as well as staff therefore I would recommend for anyone who needs a thorough self evaluation and balance in one's life. I have found a place to stay, gained employment and am on my feet and content thanks to Hickory Recovery and all of the staff that contributed to my mental growth in a trying time which I am forever grateful for! - Josh Rabatin
