Marian Center

It's a well-intentioned organization but is sorely understaffed and the nurses, cna's, med-techs are sorely understaffed, overworked and some of them are in need of psychiatric help. They spend much of their time dealing with the screamers, wanderers, desolate individuals who sometimes just can't figure out why they are there. The doctors are understaffed and although well-intentioned, make hasty and frequently ill-advised decisions regarding the patients medications that create more problems than they help. The facility itself is worn-out, tired and in need of upgrading. The chairs offered to relax and watch TV are desperately worn out. The tiny library is locked up and so sorely stocked and would appear to be an accurate impression of the overall health of this facility. The most important thing they need is a set of written rules, regulations and standards for the nurses and patients to follow. How does one know what to do if there is not a set of written rules and regulations to follow? And please, tell the workers to stop stealing the patients' personal items that have been approved by the nurses!!!

I truly cannot say enough about this facility and the outcome we experienced with our mom. When she arrived, providers in the emergency room and even at the Marian Center believed she had dementia. She was hallucinating, paranoid, emotional, and exhibiting nearly every concerning symptom imaginable. The prescribers at the Marian Center are truly exceptional. They safely transitioned our mom off Klonopin, which she had been taking for over 20 years and never thought she could stop, and placed her on the right medication. The change has been life-changing. It feels like we finally got our mother back after losing her for the last decade. After just two weeks of care, she emerged clearer, healthier, and happier than she has been in 20 years. She does not have dementia, and today she is only taking one small pill a day. We couldn’t be more grateful. This facility works tirelessly to manage care thoughtfully and find the right treatment plan for each individual. If you are considering help for a loved one, I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

I am submitting this comment in care of Lorraine O.: ⭐ 1 Star Review I was admitted to Morian Senior Behavioral Health Center believing it was a senior convalescent home, but was instead treated like a psychiatric patient. As an 81-year-old woman, I witnessed and experienced extremely concerning neglect and disrespect. One newly admitted woman fell from her wheelchair and was left on a cold tile floor for over 12 hours before anyone helped her. Staff showed no respect for veterans or people’s personal beliefs, even taking a Marine’s hat and a man’s cross. Meals were poor quality and unsafe for diabetic patients, often served at room temperature. I also experienced a terrifying incident when another male patient entered my bathroom and grabbed me — it took several minutes before staff came, and afterward they dismissed it as if it didn’t happen. Fire alarms were caged so patients couldn’t even pull them in an emergency, and there was no physical therapy offered at all. I truly hope someone investigates this facility. Seniors deserve kindness, safety, and dignity — not the treatment I witnessed here.

My family and I are grateful to The Marian Center for their assistance in helping regulate my mother’s medication. Their medical team showed competence and made noticeable improvements in her overall stability, which we sincerely appreciate. However, I am disappointed by how a separate issue has been handled. Despite providing over $100 worth of new clothing for my mother during her stay, all of it was lost. She was regularly dressed in clothing that did not belong to her, which was both confusing for her and distressing for our family. I’ve attempted to contact the facility multiple times regarding reimbursement for the lost items, but my emails have gone unanswered. While the clinical care met some expectations, the lack of accountability in handling personal belongings and communication around this matter has been frustrating. I hope the administration takes this feedback seriously and implements measures to improve transparency and responsiveness for future families.

in all, this place is AWFUL. don’t bring your elderly relatives into the Marian Center! my grandfather was put into the Marian Center after staying in the VA hospital for a couple days. before he had been taken to the Marian Center, he only was experiencing a couple of dementia episodes. immediately when he was taken there, he turned extremely aggressive. he was never like that at home & was always kind other than the short episodes that would happen. one nurse made a snarky comment to my grandmother who was visiting her husband (my grandfather) about his behavior. I don’t think that was appropriate at all, and it was overall rude. there were also worries about other nurses being unkind to the patients. my grandfather was at the Marian Center for about a month & a half until he was finally sent home. Me and my grandmother were filled with joy that he was finally going to be coming home, but not even a week later, he passed. My grandfather was doing fine before we brought him to the hospital & after being at the Marian Center, it ended up in him being gone. As I said, don’t bring your elderly relatives here. Find a better place, and whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM THE MARIAN CENTER.

Simply horrible. My father had an incident due to his dementia. He was taken to Marion Center. The conditions that the patients in this facility have to go through is awful to say the least. It is a nightmare. One of the staff actually had injured my father. It took quite some time to figure out exactly what happened. I still don’t believe what they had to say. We heard multiple different versions of what occurred. It was heartbreaking to see my father with bandages on his hand due to poor staffing. If you’ve ever seen one flew over the cuckoo‘s nest, you can get an idea of how this facility is. Though they actually treated their patients better in that movie. At least it was clean. If you have to be involved with this facility at all, my heart goes out to you. You must be in a horrible position to have to leave a loved one under such terrible care. If you have any choice go somewhere else. They should feel ashamed by their lack of empathy and care.

WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR ELDERLY PARENT TRAUMATIZED? Then send them to the Marion Center. My mother came out with black and blue arms. She was scolded for asking for ice water. She did not see a doctor for several days and I had to call and fight to get her the medicine that she is supposed to be on and had not had for 3 days!!! The staff is not compassionate and are not helpful. They will treat your elderly family member as an annoyance. Also, a naked male patient was allowed to wander into my mother's room on more than one occasion. Can we say "SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!"

This is not a safe place for elderly people They do not watch them they allow others to assault their patients A very scary and unsafe place, and they take away your rights.
