Embark at Hobble Creek

❗️PARENTS, PLEASE DO NOT TRAUMATIZE YOUR GIRLS OR WORSEN THEIR MENTAL HEALTH BY SENDING THEM HERE❗️ Like many others, we were drawn in by the glowing (likely paid) reviews and testimonials when we were desperate to help our suicidal, depressed, self-harming 14-year-old daughter. Everyone at Embark initially seemed caring and genuine. I asked detailed questions—especially about visitation—and received vague reassurances like “it shouldn’t be a problem.” The “safety phase” was described as simple monitoring. The reality was completely different. ❗️What they don’t tell you: • Girls are limited to three 15-minute phone calls per week, all monitored, often in chaotic, loud environments—making already vulnerable children feel even more isolated. • Communication is extremely poor. Our therapist, Candice, delayed promised calls for days and ultimately sent an email instead, later excusing it by saying she “got busy.” • The “safety phase” can last weeks and requires approval to exit. During this time, girls can’t go outside, must remain within arm’s reach of staff, sleep with lights on, clap/count in the bathroom, and miss outings—this feels like control, not care. • Medications were given without consent or notification. My daughter was given melatonin nightly, and after a panic attack, was given anti-anxiety medication without explanation—followed by two more melatonin—then criticized for oversleeping. I was never informed. • The “chef” is only present for some meals, and the food is poor quality. Breakfast options are minimal and not clearly communicated. • Medical guidance was concerning. A nurse incorrectly stated that timing didn’t matter for Wellbutrin, despite it being a stimulant. • Girls are separated from supportive friendships and not even allowed to hug, removing emotional comfort and increasing isolation. • Staff and doctors are switched without communication. Our daughter’s original psychiatrist barely evaluated her before leaving, and the replacement never reached out. I will say Bethanne (intake specialist) was incredible—responsive, compassionate, and the only consistent support we had. My daughter also shared that Chloe was kind and genuinely cared. We pulled our daughter after just one week but were still charged the full $1200/day ($8400 total). I’m grateful we trusted our instincts and got her out before more harm was done. ❗️**This place feels like a jail disguised by beautiful mountains—a money grab that will set your child back, not forward.**❗️

i stayed here from 6/16/22 to 9/6/22. i really liked my stay here. i have so many positive memories from embark, like stealing an ice cream bucket and eating it in a closet with broken hangers with my roommates, bug hunting with my favorite staff members (laura and carsen), and so many more. one thing i did not like here was how every time i would level up, a rule would change and i wouldn’t be able to do that certain thing. for example, the “transition room” for the clients on transition, was automatically no longer the transition room when i leveled up, and another example, also while i was on transition, parents could take out their kids for a few days AND overnights while visiting, but as soon as i hit transition, guess what? they took that away. other than that, my therapist cameron was amazing and helped me in so many ways. the staff that worked there when i was there have moved on with their lives and i have too, but i still think about my embark days.

Embark is a wonderful residential treatment facility for teenage girls. My daughter was spiraling out of control for two years and after trying everything we could, I researched places all over the country and decided on Embark. The entire staff was amazing. The communication we received weekly about the progress was so detailed. The building is comfortable and homey, giving the girls the perfect environment to work on their mental health goals. The therapists were phenomenal. It was three months of intensive individual, group and family therapy. They also provided the structure and routines to help develop character, resilience and responsibility. I can’t say enough good things about Embark. I will be forever grateful for how my family was able to repair our lives with the guidance of Embark.

Today marks my 2 years from leaving this treatment center, and I have a lot to look back on. Before I came here I was masking a lot of my emotions around friends and extended family no one knew I was struggling I always had a smile on my face and and was the brightest person in the room even though I was hurting on the inside. Coming here made me better explain my emotions and what I need to advocate for myself. When I left I was 16 still trying to figure out what life was ahead of me and never thought I would graduate high school or get that far in life. I graduated high school a semester early and meet people that I didn’t know that I needed to meet. Looking back at my stay it was a challenge and really hard to look into a mirror that didn’t like what was looking back. This stay made me so much more confident and I had more good memories then bad. The transition home is hard and it’s something that every parent needs to look out for. I loved the staff was working with when I was there and would recommend this place to any teen who is struggling.

From intake to admissions, Embark Springville went above and beyond our expectations. We are so incredibly thankful to Embark for opening their door to our daughter. Their support and guidance while we were looking for an RTF was impressive. Beth with admissions was super responsive, kind, and understanding. She was there to answer my questions and always willing to provide support. As soon as we arrived, we received a warm welcome and were toured around the facility. We felt right away that our daughter is in a safe and therapeutic place. We are hopeful to see some progress as we continue with treatment. Thanks again Embark Springville team.

I’ve been two the sprigvillie Utah location twice. I just wanted to say how grateful I am as much as I hated it during the time it was a big part of my recovery and I can’t help but be grateful I’ve made some of the best fiends I could ever have there. Recovery is hard and this is probably one of the best places I’ve been they handle situations a lot better than most places. The staff there are very kind, I specifically remember when I was there a day tech named Chloe although I have no idea if she still works here I gotta say she was the most kindest sweetest person ever she made being there so much more tolerable and genuinely gave me hope for my recovery.

Hands down best place to send your kiddo. Our 16 year old received so much help. I had looked on google and Reddit and read hundreds of reviews. I wanted the good and bad details of Embark before sending our daughter all the way from Mississippi to Utah. After coming out on the other side I can 100% say.....don't believe the bad reviews. Don't believe the bad comments of Reddit. There are more good reviews and comments FOR A REASON! Do it. Jump in with 2 feet. It's worth it!

We love Embark! Our daughter’s fear had made her completely nonfunctioning in day-to-day life and her OCD was so severe that she was requiring us, her parents, to participate in her compulsions and we were forced to comply or we wouldn’t get any rest in our lives. Our first residential facility we placed our daughter in didn’t understand how to help her with her Autism, OCD, Anxiety, and Scrupulosity. My daughter described that place as being pure torture because all they would focus on is exposure therapy. Embark embraced my daughter and let her mind heal. They also let her go at her own pace. I thought, for sure, she would be at Embark for almost a year. Only 3 months after we dropped her off she was discharged and ready to get back to life. They are miracle workers. Robyn, one of the therapist, is amazing and really understood my daughter. The staff at Embark are genuine, loving people. The place is clean and welcoming. We didn’t even know about Embark when trying to find our daughter help. It took my daughter staying at an inpatient behavioral hospital for a week to find out about Embark. We are so grateful that we were led to there. Thank Embark. I will love you forever for giving our daughter back her life!
