In a PHP, patients live at home but follow an intensive schedule of treatment. Most programs require you to be on-site for about 40 hours per week.
The highest level of care, medically managed with 24-hour nursing and physician care in a residential or medically-based setting, and can include any combination of medication, counseling and therapy.
Some primary care providers offer mental health diagnosis and treatment. This can prevent patients from developing more serious conditions.

My husband had back surgery on 2/6/2026, arrive time 5:30 AM for 7:30 AM surgery. He went back on time and surgery was on time. He went to the recovery room at 2:00 PM, I finally got to see him for 1 minute and then had to go back to the waiting room. There was no rooms available although we checked in at 5:30 AM and they knew he would be staying 3-5 nights. I had to come home at 8 PM and he still wasn't in the room. Finally at 9:55 PM he actually got a room. This is totally unacceptable for a hospital to not allow spouse to be with patient while in recovery if they CAN NOT find a room. You had 12 hours to have one found when he was ready to be moved to a room. As I said staff, nurses, doctors were great..Admitting need to get it together. Will avoid going here as much as possible.
After a quintuple bypass surgery I was treated like garbage. I wouldn't ever go again. In fact if I had to do it again I would have rather died. The surgeon seemed nice but the staff sucked. I was kicked out 4 days after my bypass. Who does that?
Went for an MRI. Poor directional signs. Got lost in the basement and had help from a food lady. God bless her as I was almost in tears.
Very friendly staff in heart unit. Very clean hospital. Also, very large hospital. There is a lot of information stations around to ask where you're going which is a plus.
Warning about transporting from ER to a Room! (5 stars for doctor- nurse care); In the last 2 weeks I've had several family members and close friends of the family go from ER to being admitted to the room. During transportation every single person has had things mysteriously missing or taken. Never have I seen this happen. Transportation lost the bag filled with special hospital boot for special amputated toe, medical vest, cellphone charger (point... big bag), took advantage of a sick 90 yr old, disregarded her request to have the bag on her bed where she can see it during the transportation (she was a nurse in younger years) and "lost" it. 2) even shadier, someone took the gift cards from my brother's wallet, could have only happened during transportation , when he was hospitalized 3) another family member of a friend, whole wallet missing Horrible and ridiculous to take advantage of someone who is sick... have no peace of mind for the rest of their care!
Worse than a nursing home. Go literally anywhere else.
Very Helpful Information
My sister in law. Was lifelined to the icu Nuro floor. When getting to the hospital the emergency department. Was very rude once up to the 5th floor. Waiting room. It was very filthy there were old food containers everywhere. The carpet looks as if it was in there since the 1930 and may I add people were sleeping on the floor no chairs. You had to sit on a window ledge and that’s if you could find one that wasn’t being slept in front of. We have been here for 10 days so far and I haven’t seen one house keeper. Come in and clean. The food containers are still there . Let’s get into the drs . Wow. Talk about one doctor contradicting the other is crazy. As much money as his hospital makes you can’t find any better staff? That’s definitely a question for the ceo. This. Hospital. Is supposed to to have a very high patient. Rating. And I will know if we ever need to come back to take that few extra miles. And go to st Vincent this hospital doesn’t have anything to be proud of especially the staff and the building
