Like all recovery plans and half way houses success is up to the individual. You have got to want to make it happen. Once you are committed to change, this program will give you the tools to make it.

It's 2 steps away from being community corrections, 1 or 2 steps away from being a cult, I was FORBIDDEN, from talking to someone in recovery that's still sober to this day, just because they were mad about how they moved on, and didn't stay at lighthouse. It's good for a month,

It was all around horrible. I was there for about a month relapsed left for a detox came back was doing ok I was discharged for not having a job, but because I was struggling to get a job not because I wasn’t trying, cause I was. Besides that they tell u service work is labor that is worthy of being paid work, which isn’t service work they use you until your useless to them, they show favoritism, they don’t care about your recovery. They pretend that they do but when it comes down to it they will show their true colors. The assistance director has no idea how to run a recovery home. She thinks restricting people just because she feels like it will make you do better but it drives people away. A lot of people have left in the passed 2 months because it’s poorly ran or have been discharged because they don’t care about you they care about $. The director or assistant director get mad at u or about something and everyone suffers. They are inconsistent and lie constantly, change rules all the time, tell u one thing then the next it’s something different. The only person there that comes close to caring about you is their house manager Mark he is actually a good person. But the rest are corrupt and will discharge you quick or write u up quick just cause they’re mad or because they can’t control you. I mean if it was reasonable I get it but what they do all the time isn’t reasonable very displeased and this was my first recovery home wouldn’t recommend to newcomers to recovery or people that have been in recovery before. And just to clarify most of these reviews are old and may be lies in place by people in management trying to bring people in and may not even be in the Lafayette branch the Lafayette branch is horrible you could ask anyone there everyone for that matter I bet off the record they will agree with me and tell u the truth as well.!

If you enjoy authoritarian management, gnats in your eating space, and the mentality of the 80's, then this is the place for you! They pitch a sale of a peaceful place to recover, but change the rules every other week. Whitney is a woman on a power trip, running a house of men. She was furious when she had to get a real job, and couldn't hang out with her kids in a rent free place anymore. They will take your personal electronics if you make them mad, and insult you in front of people to feel a sense of power. Least professional director I've EVER had the displeasure of encountering. When they can't refute something that is unreasonable, they just say "it's a part of the program". Beth (the owner) is mentally stuck in the past, and runs off of "TV is the devil, and you aren't supposed to enjoy recovery" mentality. The management also lies, and shifts blame to keep you off of their backs. A total lack of accountability all around, making for one of the worst living spaces I've ever experienced. And I've lived in crack houses. Do yourselves a favor, and find somewhere else.

Fantastic program! I have been here for awhile and it has provided me with hope where there was none before. It is a great place if you want to be held accountable and live within the rules that are in place. It can be a good stepping stone towards a brighter future.

The MRT, sober school, and weekly house meetings is the core of the program. Over the year that I’ve been here I have been graced to know a lot of people. I saw what worked and what didn’t. This program brought me to multiple different meetings of recovery also. In the past this may have been a different program but as it sits with me it has been directly responsible for equipping me with the tools to START a lifetime of recovery though I will have to continuously upkeep my recovery in order to make it successful but this program is a great start. It’s a nine month program but I was able to stay longer because I don’t feel quite ready to leave. It afforded me the opportunity to continue to help new people coming in and improve my own abilities. I am now coming up on one year and I can confidently say the effort is not only proportional of my own work but the thought and attention of the program that is a living organism- growing and developing when required. It’s not a stationary object never to be changed. It’s being built on continuously through a team of kind compassionate and knowledgeable folks that are open minded and willing to review things that may no longer work or might work better.

So very proud and thankful for Lighthouse. I witness every Monday the impact Lighthouse has on our participants at ABLBH at Christ.
