Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital Behavioral Health Services

The staff here is friendly and caring. The doctors however are the laziest and most apethetic I have ever experienced in my life. They conferred with me about my son in passing and ordered a medication regimine that clearly shows they didn’t even look at his file. I requested to change doctors and was refused because the other doctor agreed with the first. I am experiencing a serious health and safety issue and clearly no good was done here and when my son was placed on another 5150 5 days later they refused to accept him. Too much to ask that they actually work for the their overinflated paychecks

The nurses are nice, but very careful because I got hit in the face by security last time I tried to in for treatment. Huge guy like a big bear. I took out my drink to give to himand his big head paws took it I almost passed out. I m still shook after two months. Went to Er filed report. No help. Be careful when. Going there. Security has a free pass

I went there due to an attempted OD, and it lowkey sucked being there. There were some cool nurses (shout out to the nurses). But the doctor lowkey sucked. I got prescribed antidepressants for the first time, because my family was super anti-drugs used for mental illnesses, and I started at 50mg and within a day or two was switched with 100mg of the standard Zoloft (which you’re not supposed to do so fast, because it messes up your brain so badly). I had to deal with a horrible list of repercussions as a teenager. Plus we had some supervisors like Stephanie and Mason that sucked so badly + were super insensitive.. I mean why work with kids if you hate them? 😂 It’s not like we forced you to work here, so what’s with that insane attitude? Plus if you don’t have any roommates, you have no form of entertainment except their bad selection of books that’s for elementary schoolers. You are stuck in a room for most of the time, and our outside time was cancelled A LOT. (We got less outside time than the average prisoner. I mean what the hell!?). There’s a serious power imbalance in there and the staff abuse it!! But yeah, other than your bad selection of books and the daytime room, there’s basically nothing to do. It was driving me more insane than when I arrived!! I understand there was strict rules set in order to stabilize us, but we are barely allowed to talk to each other. Got screamed at for LITERALLY everything!! Please do not send your kid here, even if the psychologist sends them here from the ER. One thing i’ll give them props to is the woman who did the outside time was really sweet! She did mainly the relaxation activities and coloring activities.

I fortunately haven't gone inpatient since I was 5 months post partum and the death of my mother in the same two month period in 2016. There were several years while I lived in San Diego, where I was at Mesa Vista almost monthly. I live in Pennsylvania now, and my mental health is really going down here. I'm considering flying to San Diego for inpatient care. I'm trying to hold on until after the holidays.. I'm just barely holding it together so my husband who works in the airline industry doesn't get fired for needing to take off during the worst time of the year (the holidays) to care for our young children. I really hope I can for the sake of my family. I would never go inpatient out here! Sharp Mesa Vista is bar none the BEST inpatient psychiatric hospital I've been in and I'm 51, first hospitalized at age 13! That's a LONG time to have experienced. I'm sure half of the nurses have retired. And probably no hospital allows vaping..but if I have to go through nicotine withdrawal for my mental health, I will. I really am not understanding why all psychiatric hospitals are on this no vaping/cigarette kick..we have enough going on! This isn't towards this hospital..but it is about the system. It's really just to have this appearance of health...when it's really more of being control freaks and that's a shame. I'm sure there's a lot of people who just won't even consider help for this one reason. I think it's ridiculous. It's not prison, the mentally ill are not criminals (usually)!

Sharp Mesa took me in when I was at my worst. They provide the best psychiatric care in San Diego. Thank you.

Mental health ward is filled with incompassionate workers. No counselors. AND they disclose personal information to family members without your permission. Choose another hospital.
