Wellstone Hospital

It's shame I have to give a star at all. This facility is dangerous. The staff do not care outside of one nurse by the name of Anthony. I went in on a 72 hr hold that come to find out had never been signed. Was given an opiate despite being in recovery and have no reason to receive. The medication. I asked the nurse multiple times why my meds looked different and was ensured it was my normal home medication. Found out on my discharge I was given an opiate. Despite asking many times what I was taking no one ever once disclosed that I was given opiates. My meds while I was there were given to me incorrectly. My insurance was never verified nor was I told the facility costs. Never given a no surprise billing paper despite that being a state law. The unit I was on was left unattended by any staff at one point. Had to beg and plead and have my family call to find out when my hold was up. Told I could sign back in once my hold was up and then sign out ama but had to wait for a doctor to say I was safe. Despite my therapist calling multiple times to tell them there facility was not where I needed to be. Witnessed a nurse attempt to give another patient someone's meds. The patient told the nurse not how you spell my name, not my meds. The nurse argued then realized the patient was right and apologized. They are understaffed. I was laughed at, spoken down to and completely disrespected. When I told them my hold was up and I was ready to go but needed my records. Told I couldn't have my med list because the doctor never put the orders in for the medications I had been taking. Which brings me to just how dangerous that was. No one really knew what I was suppose to be taking. My first night there I was put in a room for 4 hours. One person spoke to me in that time frame. No one explain what was happening or why. Taken to a unit where during a skin check the nurse laughed at me about my stretch marks. After my skin assessment. I was placed in a lobby and had to ask my room. No one would tell me. Then finally I was given the wrong meds and told my room. Went to my room where there were no sheets on the bed. Asked five times for sheets and a pillow and laughed at multiple time during this process. My name was never checked and I did not recieve and arm band until the next day. Again not a single staff verified my name or dob while passing meds or any other times really. Another patient was put in the same bed as me. I pointed it out to the dtaff at which point my name was finally added to the list of patients in the unit. Mollie the social worker and her boss were hateful to me. My sister was calling because no one would come soeak to me despite continuing to ask. They finally came down and spoke very harshly to me. Again still never disclosing the time my hold ended. I have never been at a facility ran this way and it is not safe, or helpful. It's dangerous. Cannot stress enough this facility needs to be shut down by the state. It is unsafe and all they care about is money not helping people.

So , I'd been admitted I was in Unit 5 . Greeted by some pretty cool staff who really care about the patients . Some Staff like Samantha antagonized the patients instead of treating them like human beings. None of the people who were originally in our unit were violent . Then they allowed a violent patient into our unit and she clashed terribly with many people in our unit , screamed for three hours until staff was finally able to remove her . The Doctor doesn't meet you face to face , and you can tell them whatever you want and they'll put you in a unit and give you medicine just based off of what you tell them . No meeting with a therapist one on one or even a doctor . They are understaffed but expect a lot from the staff they do have . Under appreciated and reprimand them for being kind to people who simply are sad , or have some anxiety . Not only that but some people are so hell bent on following "the rules" they allowed my brown skinned roommate to sleep on a mattress that reeked of urine and was denied a shower but upon receiving a new patient she was able to shower almost immediately . That patient was fare skinned . I did report it to patient advocacy because it just didn't look good . Felix & Seth need to be training people on mental heath , and patience and kindness and Human decency . I also think there needs to be more actual activities to keep people busy during the day. We should have been able to get properly diagnosed by a actual doctor . Not someone who sits on the phone with you while on the other side of a thin wall for 10 seconds and then is able to prescribe you any medication . There's no privacy . Another patient heard another patient's diagnosis . Wellstone was just not ideal for someone who's going through anxiety or depression or SI . I did like the counseling from some of the techs but they aren't licensed therapist and they were worn thin . The food could've be better , boxed eggs should be a crime .

They dont clean the place. I laid in a bed that was peed in. Then staff would not let me shower the entire day. The food makes your psychosis worst. The doctors just pump you up full os drugs and there is no individual therapy.

My recent stay went about what I thought it would. Truly can’t say anything bad about this place other than them being short staffed. They’ve always treated me fair and respectfully. I’m very happy one of the nurses there became a NS. She deserves it for the hard work she’s put in over the years. Many blessings to everyone there

My daughter (13) was hospitalized with suicidal thoughts. She was admitted Tuesday about 9pm and turned around and release less than 72 hours later on Friday. We are now right back in the same spot with her days later. There was nothing done for her. No changes in medication, no intensive treatment. How does anyone ethically release a child in less then 72 hours when that child has a history of severe trauma. Fully documented by her regular mental health provider and a release signed for access to her records!!! I don't care how far you need to travel do not go here for help!!! I will be lodging a formal complaint!

⸻ We received great support for our family from this hospital. The staff was very kind, respectful, and attentive. They answered all of our questions and made us feel supported throughout the process. The final outcome was very positive for our family. There were moments when we felt confused and unsure about what decisions to make. In other hospitals, we did not receive positive results. However, here at Wellstone, we found an amazing team—caring counselors, therapists, and nurses who treated our family member with compassion and professionalism. Because of this experience, we highly recommend this clinic and hospital. We truly hope that they continue providing such kind and thoughtful care to everyone. Thank you for everything.

I wouldn’t even give them one star rude unprofessional and unorganized staff they had my daughter for week lied and said they were trying to reach me but had wrong number but she was able to call each night lady said she had wrong number but instead of getting the right one keep calling the WRONG number expecting me to answer how stupid can you be. Name started with a J. She then discharged her and expected me there with only a 8 hour notice and we are three hours away. Sent me a lyft to the wrong address. don’t send your kids here its complete joke.

Most of the staff and nurses were friendly. I was initially told I would have the option of inpatient or outpatient treatment, but once there I was forced into inpatient care under threat of a court order and a 72-hour hold, despite repeatedly explaining that I was not suicidal or a danger to myself. I was kept for three days, received no one-on-one counseling, and only spoke to a doctor once, briefly, about being discharged. Later I was placed on antidepressants and a mood stabilizer without meaningful discussion, which felt like a default to medication rather than care. Overall, the experience was frightening and has made me hesitant to ever return. While the staff were kind, the facility was not helpful, and I would not recommend it. (Also there were also so many gnats flying around and was freezing)
