My father was visited today by a nurse by the name of Beth and she was very unprofessional. We are a Latino family and my husband is a black man. When she entered our home this afternoon my husband very politely said hello as she just passed right by him not 2 feet away from him and completely ignored him. He then says it again and still nothing. I was in the medical field before and when you enter someone’s home you are supposed to acknowledge everyone with whom you come across in that home. My father was also told that since he hasn’t been doing to well due to his COPD that he could be put on hospice. Now I am a direct care giver and I understand that being on hospice doesn’t mean that you are about to die but he was never explained that and he was extremely depressed after this visit as he thought that was the case. He also suffers from severe depression and this didn’t help at all. When this visit was done and she was leaving my husband asked her if she heard him because he didn’t want her to think he was being rude and she still wouldn’t even look at him in his face. This needs to be addressed as it is unprofessional.

When doing house calls nurses be sure to be professional at all times, that means speaking when you enter someone's home giving eye contact when being spoken to and acknowledging everyone rather white black or brown. Nurse Beth voted my home today and appeared to have not a hint of professionalism.......People especially in the medial have to do better..

Full of very kind compassionate individuals that truly want to make sure you’re okay. I had wonderful providers that avidly listened to me. There was also very kind older veterans as well that helped direct me because it was my first time there.

Worst experience of my life. I went it to the emergency room because I was having medical issues. When I first arrived I met with the doctor who made it very clear he didn't want to be there. When I told him what was wrong he rolled his eyes. Then he got up and left the room,no explanation of what was going to go on. Mean while the staff were out at the nursing station screaming and yelling very loudly at the football game. Then nurse finally came in and put a port in my hand, very aggressively and took some blood. She didn't say one word to me. They then took me for a cat scan, after I was done the brought me back to the room . They never hooked me back up to the machines. The bells were going off for over a hour. Shift change happened and the new nurse finally came in and said the are discharging you. I said is no buddy even going to explain to me what they found or what is going on with me. He responded with if the doctor felt the need to talk to you he would have. He then left and so I began to get dressed. The doctor finally came in and the only thing he said was talk to your primary. I'm am completely done with the VA and the horrible care. I'm a 100 percent disabled veteran and I can't get the VA to fix anything all they do is just add a new medication. I firmly believe the VA wants you to die so they don't have to take care you anymore. It has been this way with every doctor I have seen up here at the Wilkes-Barre VA
