If I could give a negative score, I would. Apparently they’ve gotten former employees to leave most of the glowing reviews, which is shady, but based on our experience, it’s what I’d expect from them.
Starting in fall of 2022, my kid had psychotic breaks that required treatment at a residential mental health facility. There were few programs that would even consider him. He’d been violent during the psychotic breaks. I had 2 therapists fly in and pick him up from the acute psych ward and drive to Bridge House (BH) in Farmington UT. This extreme step was taken to avoid possible police apprehension at the airport.
BH said they are experts in complex diagnoses. There had already been myriad diagnostic determinations by previous other docs. I knew chances of improvement were positively correlated with acquiring an accurate and complete diagnosis.
Unfortunately, their medical director, Dr. Keira Schlansky, is unprofessional, arrogant and unwilling to hear feedback. Don’t take my word for it; Google it yourself. If you knew some of what happened, you would have had questions, too, if you were told this kid had “only” autism and C-PTSD. I asked if it was possible something was missed, because it didn’t make sense to me. Dr Kiera got defensive and shut down. It was downhill from there.
Shortly thereafter, therapist Sue told me (on a Friday) that he was moving (on Monday). She asked me to overnight phone and ID. I bought a 1 way ticket and overnighted items for Saturday delivery. The package was left on the porch at BH, but nobody saw it. Rather than reschedule the flight, she knowingly put a kid with a history of psychotic breaks and suicide attempts on a plane. By himself. Without ID or phone. AND active COVID; there was a facility-wide outbreak. Regardless, BH rushed him off.
Bridge House also left out a lot of pertinent information. Facility #2 said if they had known what actually happened, they wouldn’t have agreed to take him on. #2 didn’t provide the level of supervision required, so it was not a good fit. They helped me find an appropriate facility, even though they were shorthanded because 2 employees got COVID. From my kid.
The 2nd center tried calling BH, but they never responded. Sue, the social worker therapist at BH said their program included continuity of care. Sue promised they would talk with the new facility and participate in zoom therapy with the new therapist for 3 weeks to ease transition.
That was all a big fat lie.
Along with SO many other things.
Bridge House wouldn’t return the 2nd or 3rd center’s phone calls. The 4th center didn’t even bother trying. BH knew they’d done wrong and circled the wagons. They already had my money.
The BH neuropsych report was reviewed at the 3rd facility and roundly criticized by those who read it. As the parent I had information BH didn’t; information they not only didn’t ask for, but weirdly didn’t want to hear when offered. The neuropsych report at BH was not proctored; they let him take the tests to his room. I learned from United Assessments (UA) in NYC that the tests are supposed to be given all on the same day and by the same psychiatrist. The doctor asks questions and depending upon response, follows up or moves in a different direction.
We just did a 2nd $10K neuropsych, trying to finally get answers. As it turns out, according to UA, he doesn’t just have autism and C-PTSD, he also has a personality disorder and a chronic, disabling mental illness. So Bridge House completely missed the mark. I will give them credit for detoxing him from Clozapine and finding Abilify, which appears to be keeping psychosis at bay. But honestly, that’s about it.
Please don’t send your loved one to Bridge House. Save your money, sanity, heart and health. And do yourself a favor by hiring a therapeutic consultant to navigate the process. Avoid this substandard facility at all cost. If I can help even one person avoid the pain, agony & expense ($1400 per DAY) we experienced at their hands by writing this review, it will have been worth the time taken to write it. Good luck.
